I wanted to thumbs down this, but not because I thought it was a bad comment. I just couldn't hit the icon. It's beyond sad. For many of us, a life-changing and truly generational (or dare I say a lifetime) band. For those of us who were lucky enough to see them live, we have been truly blessed. I still can't rationalize that Neil is no longer 'here'.

They never cheated their audience I doubt they ever had an off night live. And even if they did by their standards I'm sure they were still great. Saw them 7 times ...always fantastic. I like Van Halen but I caught a show on the 1984 tour and they were incredibly sloppy and didn't seem to give a shit. Rush were never primadonnas.

Jason Goodwin g’day Jason. I love ghost of a chance. Beautiful song. To cut a long story short, I only got into rush after Neil peart’s death, even though I’d been aware of them since the 80s. I finally got the last few discs a few weeks ago... roll the bones, counterparts and test for echo... as is the way of these rush albums, there is always one song that is the breakthrough song, and on RTB it’s ghost of a chance. There’s always a gem hidden way deep in Rush albums.
@jasongoodwin61323 жыл бұрын
Shane Wilson I’ve listened to Rush off and on over the past 30 years, so I’m well aware of their body of work. Having said that, while Tom Sawyer is their best known song, my favorite is Circumstances. At any rate, the lyrics are just phenomenal. Some people can’t get into Rush because they are unique in so many ways. But it’s what set them apart from everyone else that helped to create their dedicated fan base.

There are those of us who believe listening and watching 2:45 to 3:45 of this video is akin to watching Michelangelo paint, and we would be correct. It is a true power trio at work, with that unbelievably crisp yet effortless looking bass solo (3:23 his fingers glide in an other-wordly way), with canon shot, dead center, precision beats, and Alex's guitar filling in with an almost impossibly rich, full and consistent sound.....masterpiece. Art of the highest form.

I was 12 years young when Permanent Waves dropped and found my odd introverted eccentric self aligned into a kindred spirit with Rush. My mind blown and intellect invaded with such ethereal musicianship and elevated lyricism. Entre Nous is just one of those dainty prophetic tunes that echoes of passerby wisdom and rich humanism that is truly timeless in its existence. I have a Rush shaped hole in my heart since their retirement.

We are secrets to each other Each one's life a novel No-one else has read Even joined in bonds of love We're linked to one another By such slender threads We are planets to each other Drifting in our orbits To a brief eclipse Each of us a world apart Alone and yet together Like two passing ships Just between us I think it's time for us to recognize The differences we sometimes feared to show Just between us I think it's time for us to realize The spaces in between Leave room For you and I to grow We are strangers to each other Full of sliding panels An illusion show Acting well-rehearsed routines Or playing from the heart? It's hard for one to know Just between us I think it's time for us to recognize The differences we sometimes feared to show Just between us I think it's time for us to realize The spaces in between Leave room For you and I to grow We are islands to each other Building hopeful bridges On a troubled sea Some are burned or swept away Some we would not choose But we're not always free Just between us I think it's time for us to recognize The differences we sometimes feared to show Just between us I think it's time for us to realize The spaces in between Leave room For you and I to grow

This song has always been a humble little masterpiece: Neil's carefully built drum part, the chords, nice lyrics, so deeply great and nice to listen to. Even how Alex gets the '5' in the last chord he holds to pop out a little bit (4:50) is just gorgeous. It is a crime against all that is good that Neil is gone and RUSH is no more...

"Just between us, I think it's time for us to recognize, the differences we sometimes fear to show, just between us, I think it's time for us to realize, the spaces in between, leave room, for you and I to grow" Seriously deep and necessary words for the world to understand. Every time I hear this song, I think of how my parents and myself (40 y/o man) have very different ideals, but there's still a connection stronger than just familial ties, and that's what allows us to continue to grow and learn as individuals that happen to be family.

This was the first rush song I ever heard....1980 or so. I was 10. Geddy's voice is better now than it was then. And he's aging better than I'd expect. Rush is not a band that messes with their music live but it would be cool if they pushed the tempo of this one slightly. It's really a great song. Permanent Waves is my fave rush album. Though I think it's time I give there post grace under pressure stuff a listen. Age may have softened me to their synth period.

One of Rush's few so ga without a "proper" guitar solo, yet I love what they worked out in its place. It's more of an orchestral summation of emotion (good name for a band?) than a solo full of notes. The song has been going on around and around in my head lately the past couple weeks and I think it's the next song on my list to learn. I always loved the chords, on the album it's about the closest that he comes to sounding like bells from a cathedral. Except for the distortion during the verse. So glad the brought this one up from the vault to play live.
