Alex is criminally under-rated on the guitar.

It's funny, that, when this song first came out, everyone thought it was new Zeppelin. Everybody looked for it in the stores, or called the radio station. No one realized it was a new band out of Canada. Little did anyone know what heights they would climb to. They only turned out to be the best three-man band ever! And better than most bands with 4-8 people. And to me, they never sounded anything like Zep. Or anyone else for that matter. Rock wouldn't have been the same without Rush

I think you should do every Rush song from 70's in order.

Not a huge Rush fan but Working Man is one of the best hard rock songs ever written. They bring the smoke on this one.

Hey Jamel...just wanted to let you know that this is John Rutsey playing drums, not Neil Peart. This is the ONLY album that Neil did not play on. After this album came out, John Rutsey left the band, and Neil supported this album when they began their first tour. The rest, as they say, is history...

Whole different production sound to early Rush. Dirtier (in a good way) Raw. Garage band sound. Love their early stuff.

You can very much hear the Ritchie Blackmore influence in the solos here

People don't always seem to say it, but Working Man is by far the greatest Rush song. It perfectly showcases all 3 members of the band, somehow solo-collectively if you will. It's honestly about perfect

Rush is king here in Toronto, this is there home town. this is there debut album, came out in 74, this album had John Howard Rutsey on drums, who was a fantastic drummer as well, no comparison to Neil of course but still good . He had to leave the band due to health reasons . Unfortunately John Rutsey died back in 2008.they were 21 and 22 years old at the time...

That's the song that put Rush on the map and got their professional career going, back in 1974! They were able to sign an American contract with Mercury records because of the response of Cleveland fans -- classic working class, factory town -- to the song. The song reflects the general tone and production of the first album. It is a totally rocking album, very ambitious for them at that time. But, because of the success of Working Man and the signing of the American contract to release the album and go on a major North American tour, Rush had to get a new drummer. The drummer on this album was unable to make the tour happen. So, Rush had 2 weeks to audition a new drummer, choose a new drummer and get him/them ready for the tour! Neil Peart, come on down! The rest, as they say, is history!.

The song that opened the door for them. A Cleveland DJ used this song for her bathroom breaks due to the length of the song. To this very day they are still tight with this DJ, because that's just who these guys are.

"When they go in, they go IN! Relentless!" That may be the best description of Rush ever. Love this channel!

Keep in mind, this song was written in late '71, early '72... Alex was 17 years old when he wrote this...

The early Rush is what I grew up with (I'm 57). I'd suggest listening to "Anthem", "Fly by Night" and "Bastille Day".

John Rutsey on the drums. He left the band after the first album and Alex and Geddy found Neil after that. The rest is the history of Rush with the professor.
