We hear a lot about sex and drug addiction - but what about the addiction to money? In fact is Money Addiction even classed as a problem? The need to dodge taxation when you have billions in the bank - seems like a major illness is you ask me, The Money Addiction equivalent of Lindy Lohan going on a eight day bender and crashing her car; or Tiger Woods chasing waitresses around his local Starbucks.

I think it's hysterical when people say Russel Brand isn't smart. He has a lightning quick mind. UNDEBATABLE. He speaks at a rapid pace, almost never repeats himself and almost never uses stalling words like "um". He is well read. UNDEBATABLE. He constantly references literature and recites word-for-word quotes from authors and speakers. He has a massive vocabulary. UNDEBATABLE. He is constantly using a wide array of words and terms to describe himself. So when you say he' not intelligent, you are basically saying he's not intelligent in the ways *you* feel intelligence should be measured. And more specifically, you are saying you think he's unintelligent purely because he doesn't agree with your worldview. That's ignorance.

Looking at the comments so many call RB a hypocrite because he is rich. I don't understand this. If someone is rich he cannot be compassionate, cannot feel sorry for the unfortunate? Why? And the rich who aren't and don't are the good people, the 'normal' people you lot think Russell should be like?
@GlitchGroove
@GlitchGroove 9 жыл бұрын
They are either not very bright, trolls, or they just didn't watch the video. If they watched the video they would see any number of counter arguments to their hypocrite ad hominems. That just leaves stupid, or troll. I haven't seen anyone put forth an argument of this kind against Russel that wasn't directly addressed in the interview.

***** The book he sells goes To build "trews cafe" a social enterprise to get recovering addicts into work .twitter.com/rustyrockets/status/525225700102799361 and in no way does he dodge taxes where the hell did you get them facts. basicly what i seen you say was other companys dodge taxs and not him just because he buys a house from someone who dodges tax does not make him a hypocrit, i bet 100% of housing companys dodge taxs so in all end we are all hypocrits and we should live on the street.

For those attacking Russell''s mannerism/outward appearance, you don't do yourself any favour by attacking someone's character/personality. Russell admits of being flawed just as we all are in our own different ways. But there's so much more positivity that comes from Russell and I fully support his desire and Action towards change for a fairer society for everyone. It'd help if we can focus and each do our bit as it's in those 'small acts' that add up towards our unified common goal. I for one, I'm glad to see many people waking up and linking up to make a change. Together we Excel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this excerpt. Throughout college, I have strived toward changing the world. I've been an advocate toward my closest friends. At first, they were all skeptical of my mentality. Reluctantly, they all came back to me asking how I have learned what I know. There is a consciousness shift coming. This is the revolution. Not of violence, but a revolution of the mind and ideologies. Once we realize we are a collective unit, society will indulge in what is preferable for the greater good.

for all the people bashing Russell an his fellow activists/supporters - If you had millionaire status and wanted to effect change for the good, would you give up your wealth and power and start on the bottom rung - how would you be able to influence anyone or effect any kind of change? He's not obscenely wealthy but he DOES attend rallies, He DOES put money into drug recovery projects and a heck off a lot of charity work for numerous causes, He is trying to raise awareness about all the injustices we see on a day to day basis but are too jaded to do anything about due to the fact we've been beaten into submission by the media, government and massive corporations. Think about this when you next open your gas bill (which is incredibly high because the government bodies set up to prevent a rigged market do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) or have to help out your elderly relative get to their weekly coffee morning to see the few remaining friends they have because the free bus that used to pick them up has been cancelled due to 'austerity measures' . It is easy to criticise but a lot harder to create the changes in the world that you want to see.

Just to re-produce another post from the recent Questiontime video: "Russell is the only person on that panel with genuine interest in the well being of the populace and the only one who doesn't benefit from the current political structure or it's chaos. He preaches compassion, sympathy and equality, is well spoken and cares. Russell is the only one of them who doesn't have to be there, he could retire to the bahamas and leave the problems of the world behind, but he doesn't."

+Nathan Watkins Intelligent people are always misunderstood and ridiculed by the masses. It's been the curse of humanity and the "dead weight" that's been holding us back from true progress. People that don't have the mental capacity to put two and two together will just think "this guy's an idiot" because what the guy says, doesn't make sense to them. It's the same way we feel about dumb people, they say something which in their head makes perfect sense, but we know that it doesn't make sense, because our minds see a different perspective of things, so obviously we think "this guy's an idiot". So really, we're dealing with a mirrored version of the same social mechanic, it just happens we're on the "real" side of the mirror, while dumb people are just living in the "reflection" which from their point of view is real and perfectly valid, but in truth is just a limited perspective of reality.

people need to focus on what he is trying to convey--does anyone actually listen or are they just commenting without even listening??a lot of people commenting on his intelligence and him being an idiot or whatever--like the guy didn't even have a proper education and i have seen most of his videos, he has never said he is so intelligent or he is so much better --he himself says he doesn't know much of the stuff and he clearly pointed in the video--if anyone bothered to listen that he is good at bringing attention and he is doing that but it is up-to everyone to chip in and try to help whatever way they can. what's with everyone expecting him to find all the solutions--he is not a prime minister nor he wants to be one.

As someone with a "proper education", "proper education" is over-rated. You can learn pretty much everything one would learn at a University by reading a handful of books. If someone is an engaged reader? They will surpass a college education within a few years if they keep up with business writings and so forth.

NC Seventeen lol. Oh, I see. You're one of THOSE people. The people who can take a person who has excelled at all forms of educational benchmarking that we have as a society, has amassed tremendous personal wealth, has a wife and kids, and has achieved the position of the highest office in the land (much more than you have ever accomplished in life) and still choose to call that person an "idiot". A person who has excelled in ALL FORMS OF MEASURING INTELLIGENCE THAT WE HAVE AS A SPECIES.

yea, a lot of people that comment on his intelligence have no idea what he went through, as I don't either but I, once being homeless, a high school dropout and addict, I learned the other side of life, and once politicized it was far easier to understand the system is broken. I don't need massive degrees to know that. Russell is one of my favorite people because he actually goes and talks to folks, the folks society rejects, he is committed to recovery and that has changed his life. These are voices that can inspire and unite large communities of people. So when folks say he is stupid or what not, I smug it off. Because, I know Russell speaks from the heart and "heart means everything"!!! He is self educated and learned to know that the answers we seek in the radical movement for massive change, is in each other and yes there is education, great! but also there is no education like a life lived, that he knows first hand, as do I. Outreach will change a human beings life. Thank you for sharing this and your thoughts!

It was easy not to care too much about politics for me until this year I had two large dumps dropped on my head. I have been trying to find out if I have cancer since Xmas and no one told me how little the NHS would spend on me to diagnose me so its end of march and still don't know. No 2 can't get my son into local senior school so will have to spend two hours driving him every day as there's no school bus. This is "the cuts" I thought wouldn't affect me. I hope there is a revolution. If I'm alive I will be there.

11:00 - 13:35 That pretty much sums it all up! He had this revelation as a consequence of his drug rehabilitation struggle. You don't have to go through the same thing, all you have to do is take a deep introspective, and observe and acknowledge your own flaws, so that once you know what those flaws are, you can consciously compensate for them, keep the "demons" under control. It's very very simple and anyone can do it. But you have to be willing to do it, and most of all you have to swallow your PRIDE, which is the main barrier that's standing in the way of you admitting your flaws.

what is wrong With being rich and decent.. at least he's using his platform to bring a change or To Shine the Light on the very compelling issue that's Bean staggering for Eva to say the least he grew up very very poor he worked very very hard he earned his money the honest way not in the public office ripping people off like politicians do.. and now he's giving back to the community, he hasn't forgotten where he came from and how he grew up and I admire him for that.. best of luck and all you do Russell. God bless you"

Let's collectivise. If you hate banks, use a building society. If you hate pollution use public transport and shop locally at organic food places. I you hate homelessness then volunteer or donate to a charity. If we all pull our socks up and do something individually THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.
