Irish, Geordie, West Country... his accent bounced all the way around the whole fucking British archipelago. Any English ear could hear it.

The equivalent of this would be an English actor telling an Australian host, whilst being interviewed in Australia, that the host couldn’t possibly tell the difference between an Australian and a Kiwi accent.

As an Irishman I can confirm that the interviewer was absolutely correct about a hint of Irish! A hint of multiple different Irish Accents. Maybe being from far away he didn't hear it himself, but anyone from Ireland or Britain could hear the rather odd schizophrenic blend he got while attempting Northern England. He could have just admitted he botched the accent.

He started off with a passable northernish accent but then lost it and became Irish. Undeniable.

I'm a big fan of Russel Crowe but his English accent was all over the place in this movie. I understand why he would want to defend his work but now that enough time has passed and after having featured in plenty of other subsequent stellar performances, I think he can afford to admit this wasn't his finest two hours and twenty minutes. Even the very best have bad days at the office!

I'm pretty sure, knowing how Crowe reacts normally, that the entire interview must have been pretty aweful. You don't say "bollocks" in the first few answers when there's no animosity.

His defensive reaction shows that his accents are not his strong point. Unfortunately, neither are manners .

Thats the problem with actors that think england has one or two accents go 20 miles in any direction it will be a different accent especially up north.

At least he didn’t throw a phone.

So bizarre. I never watched the movie but after seeing a clip I definitely noticed his accent sounded Irish at times. In fact the accent was all over the place. Such a shame he's this petty.

I'm no expert in accents, but as someone who's married to someone from Scotland that's exactly what I hear in Russell Crow's accent in Robin Hood. A little bit of Scottish, more than Irish.

I guess I gotta watch the movie now 😂

Watching him speak english so American I think he's acting Australian when nails that accent and expressions so well.

Just watched a clip and I’d say 35% Nottinghamshire, 25% Southern, 40% Irish blend. Sounds weird af. He also has as much screen presence as my neighbour 2 doors down when he’s washing his car on a Saturday afternoon.
