This is the official trailer to "Russell Means: Lakota Warrior".
Russell Means was one of the most iconic speakers for both American Indians and Human Rights, and we had the great privilege to speak with him in 2009 before he was diagnosed with cancer.
This is an intimate portrait of a man reflecting on his life filmed at his home in Porcupine, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Indian reservation.
The full interview of "Russell Means: Lakota Warrior" is available by going to snowflakevideo.com.

I could watch him all day. Watched him a lot over the years. I am not lakota or any native american. All my ancestors came from europe. I am 1st and 2nd generation Canadian. Keep fighting Lakota. Such a beautiful culture and teachings. I am sorry for what the settlers have done to your nations.

A hero to all nations on earth… the only way to be really free is to speak in the language of freedom. This is exactly what he did and still does. May his words of truth and freedom echo trueout the universe and on mother earth for all eternity. Support each other and never forget who we are and where we come from.

If I could ❤ this comment I would. I agree 100%. There is still hope to make a change in it starts with the youth. Start teaching them everything bout their heritage. The sooner they reconnect to their culture the sooner there will be change. They are the future. We all need to work together to teach and guide. I have been reading up on n listening to documentaries and anything else tht holds facts and am learning the Lakota language cuz I wna be able to offer help where ever I can. I grew up around the Lakota ppl n my auntie n cousins are Lakota, tht Nation has a very big spot in my heart n I wna see a change for them ❤❤

Powerful words from a powerful man whom served others wisely and honorably. We honor him and more importantly his well ground beliefs which he many times shared. This sharing came at price and some suffering we honor as well his great commitment. Each of us must take up as he did, and first find and then follow our own paths. A Path that need not be limited to red, white, yellow or black truly the path knows no color nor is one greater then another. All are equal, balanced, with their own individual radiance.

Looking for footage of a court case, the case would have been close to Wounded Knee 2, for part of the reason for holding Wounded Knee 2 was to make sure that all the Children got to have their day in court! Part of the reason it ended was because I was hurt and they took me away, I held most of the memories. Please if anyone knows where I can find the film-footage or photos.

I in my youths was poor my family moved around like poor people did in my youth's my family and I moved to Chicago in "65" 8 people living in a small 2 bedroom apartment it was a basement apartment and our neighbors who lived above us where also 8 members of their family there were poor has well but unlike us they laughed more in the summer times we and other neighboring house people would sit on their front porches because we had no air conditioning we didn't even know what it meant the important thing is there would be all of both our families sitting outside on the porch talking laughing and for me I was 10 years old and the family upstairs from us had a son who's name was Tony like mine he was also 10 years old him and I second day of our moving to this basement apartment we were outside in front of the house trying to think of something to do but it was Tony who's family lived upstairs from my families apartment who realized I was new to the neighborhood and I was shy he could sense at least that is what I thought at the time I was shy and lonely I will never for he was sitting on a porch next to where we lived it was a brick porch he said to me hey let's go do something I looked up at him saying what in a sad way that I was and I followed him east on Barry street toward Broadway has we walked south on Broadway in was nothing has it is today but Tony was the kind of person who was older than his years we'd talk has we walked he'd find something to say that I forgot the fear of going away from in front of the house has we walked and talked walking through Lincoln Park zoo I realized he was friendly toward me and I couldn't help but like his way of making thing's seem like they were someway amusing but the time we started getting hungry and a little tired we were downtown Chicago I was amazed at all the buildings and the people has a youth along with my new and only best friend that was my first adventure in life there's were many more that summer even the winters it could be just has fun we never fought about anything only shared in experience and sometimes something to eat but we never got into trouble it was the summer of "67" that I found out my closest friend and brother Tony who lived upstairs with his family brother's Mark John sisters Gee-Gee Mary and to this day I only remembered the parents has Mr. and Mrs.Zimmerman Mr. Zimmerman married his wife who had already had a family but went to work every day to provide for his family that you could tell he loved. I my best friend was an American Indian but did not know where his people where from but once they had moved I was alone again sure there were other child in the neighborhood but I really didn't notice or rarely played with them. A few years had pasted we were somehow going on a trip to the Wisconsin dells we pulled into a gas station to get gas and from sitting in the car I noticed a man talking to my father it only took a couple of seconds to realize it was Mr. Zimmerman I jumped out of car and ran up to him saying hello Mr. Zimmerman where's the family has I looked at other cars getting gas hoping to see the whole family but none of the cars had anyone in them that I could recognize and I asked Mr. Zimmerman where is Tony and his family he said they where at home on the Reservation he said Menomonee Falls I spoke out of turn by staying I want to see my friend my step father told me to get back in the car I looked at Mr.Zimmerman he smiled and I turned and walked back to the car feeling once again sad because the summer the family I've grown to know and love had moved I was heart broken because they treated me like one of their own and I acted out in a negative way because something special came into my life and within only 2 years it seemed a wonderful long time the smile on my face was never again the same that summer they moved I met new friends and found out the difference between good and bad unfortunately for me I choice the path of that lead to juvenile detention I was beaten till I learned how to take a beating from at home streets jails prisons and I found I take a punch the harder you'd hit me the harder the return until one of us gave up I liked it when they could hardly breathe and the pain in there faces was a trophy in my mind because I worked out since the age of eleven and when my step father who was a once golden glove contenders I had good training but I never bullied or took advantage of anyone but because of my look and reputation sometimes someone who try me I knew the value of landing the first punch after I realized I had to get a better education I did well in just about anything I put myself into now I am 66 years old and hear the words Mr.Means always spoke of and it dawned on me like seeing a green tree for the first time in years it is always the greenest the first time you see it for what it really is, I've somethings wonder only if my friend Tony who lived upstairs such a long time ago if he could have stayed in my life long enough that I would have understood what he understood and laughed more if I would have become someone he would still called friend. Over the years I've tried tracking him or any members of his family but life gets in the way work gets in the way and for some stupid reason stupid people get in the way, well old age has only left my body scared with pain my memories has a young boy has lasted longer than all things a person can possess in a life time I count myself honored to have a family who lived upstairs who had a son named Tony same has mine who gave me something of himself with either one of us knowing it and I will always have it with me because it can't be taken from me and that leaves a smile on my face and maybe for all it's worth it was something no one will understand but maybe a few American Indians who knew more than they where given a chance to express it concludes it is the shame of the world at large to have chosen the wrong path in life.

The Turtle Island Indigenous have values to envy. The values you have are the values of protectors of the EARTH. I can only think of good things to say about you. My question is what is wrong with the rest of us? We live on this planet to. I'm ashamed to call myself a European. I can't understand how anyone could put his own personal gain above that of the wellbeing of this planet or humanity. I truly wish that somehow this can be rectified. Not just so the Turtle Island Indigenous can have some justice, but even more for the future of this planet and Humanity.
