Best instructional videos on KZfaq. Subscribed at about 700 last year and today see you at 10,000 for the first time. All in less than one year and well deserved. Certainly has helped me. Thanks.

Amazing comment on the irrelevance of the wide takeaway! I have personally suffered from following the "wide takeaway = more power" advice, going against my natural swing. Inconsistency was the sole result of this. Your advice is way more logical and easier for me. Thank you.

Absolutely on the money Russell so clear and concise in all your videos will be helping a lot of frustrated golfers get to a better and happier level a whole lot sooner therefore saving them a fortune on wasted lessons that are more likely to hinder them rather than improve them so keep up the great work that you do as you seem more committed to improving others which must be so satisfying 👍🏻👍🏻🏌️🏌️

Good advice and illustration Russell. Really helpful. Nice to hear you say one must stay within certain parameters but to remember certain factors will suit various players differently, starting with the grip for example. Great vid. Tk's.

Have played for 30+ years taken many lessons and watched countless videos hoping for the "secret" to unlock the repeatable swing. Thankfully I came across your videos. I am finally understanding what is needed for a consistent swing and so happy to be seeing progress. Wish there was KZfaq when I started, thanks Russell. Keep the videos coming.

I personally think the wide takeaway often gives more power not because of the arm, but most people have a better body rotation with a wide takeaway.

So if you have a strong grip, you'll have slight cupping of the lead wrist at the top of your backswing, so DO not try to flatten that wrist? GREAT channel. So glad I've found you. Thanks!🙏🙏

Dear Russel, The biggest problem I have is the takeaway ! I will try your takeaway tips in the range and come back with the feedback. Hope your methods of movement and guidance to groove the feel of takeaway will work for me. You are as always a very keen and explicit narrator focussed on the reasons of disasterous deviations that is killing our swing!

THANK YOU...for stating EVERYONE has different body types and physical skill sets! As a former competitive bodybuilder and athlete I am still much larger in a muscular sense than most...sadly I've had lessons following double hip replacement in '12 trying to become more of a "swinger" and less of a "hitter"...I went from 4 handicap presurgery to a 12 handicap post lessons...I was taught certain "positions" HAD TO BE achieved in order to succeed...I asked why...was told that is the ONLY WAY! Needless to say I quit the lessons, I have many classroom hours in kinesiology, exercise kinesiology, physiology and exercise physiology...so I fully understand kinematic sequencing in sports...so I knew that IS NOT true based on physical makeup and body structure...fortunately/unfortunately I've had 2 injuries the last 3 years that curtailed my golf for a length of time and I have been able to "forget/unlearn" the ONLY positions....I came across one of your posts on the movement of the upper body in the downswing and was AMAZED! the cause and effect outcome presented in your posts is INCREDIBLE! THANK YOU

This is the clearest video on the takeaway I have yet seen- dispelling the rigidity of the one piece takeaway which seems to be difficult to blend into a smooth swing. Several questions; your left arm seems to be swinging while the right arm seems not to swing, only bend- is this correct? Second from every angle that I see you seem not to have a secondary spine tilt- your body seems more forward. Is this just camera angle or something else?

Great instruction as always. Russ when you analysed my swing you correctly spotted that my right palm came away from the grip at the top of the backswing. Is this due over hinging?

Russell - just discovered your videos. Two things: 1) this video suggests an early hinging in the first 6-12" that flattens the left wrist. Is this different from a video from last year where you suggest a wide takeaway - with right elbow way out from body? 2) I am rebuilding my swing from ground zero - Where do I start in your videos. Lost in all the information.

Ok, you need to hinge the wrists but if you want to swing wide or create wrist cock early is your choice. I wouldn’t re build. Send a swing into my email and I can give you some tips russell@fourashesgolfacademy.com

when you demonstrate the first move at 3.50 you are wafting the club away with your hands but when You actually strike a ball you load up your lower body before your hands move the club way which I think is an important golf "secret" for us hackers

When do the hips start turning? Immediately as you flatten your wrist or once you've moved the arm 6-12 inches? So, I turn the shoulders and then start turning my hips or I turn them both at the same time?

Russ, do you subscribe to any swing aids? For example, Impact Snap invented by Kelvin Miyahira seems to mimic practicing a drive hold pattern. Being that your so knowledgeable about movements in the golf swing it would be great to get your opinion on this topic.
@russellheritagegolf

I have a huge respect for Kelvin and have never got my hands on the impact snap but could only imagine good things. Fat plate are a good company and often surprises people about strike. I like the speed sticks and some of the tempo trainers are good too. Trainings aids that don’t often resistance I don’t buy into

Confused about the first 6-12" where one is advised to flatten lead wrist and the part later with a strong lead wrist grip one should avoid flattening that wrist. Is the message that if one has a conventional grip start the take away by flattening, if a strong grip do not flatten?
@russellheritagegolf
@russellheritagegolf 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it would depend on how strong the grip is

Should you start the backswing with your arms or by turning your shoulders? Should you let your hips turn naturally in the backswing?

What is the sequence from upperbody and lower in the backswing? That is an important piece and Im surprised you dont go into this as a teacher, because basically all that you say, you can do in 100 different ways.

@@russellheritagegolf Interesting. I usually tend to suck the club inside a bit when I try this, unless I try to keep the clubhead on a straight line and sort of tilt my shoulders under with the face shut. I seem to hit it pretty nice when I do that.
