Nice job, well done. The most understandable teaching I’ve ever encountered. If only it were available so many years ago. It is in detail but made easy to follow. No kidding, it’s much better than any lesson or any school I’ve attended. I will recommend.

I very much like your ability to verbalized the movements of a golf swing. Of all the golf instructors I have viewed online, you, Mr Heritage would be my choice if I were to pursue private lessons.

Incredible, so much information. You put ten lessons into one. I find it much easier to extend the right wrist early than trying to time the right forearm role.

Great video Russ. I used to hinge like that and some pro switched me the other way.and I always thought I had bad fundamentals, but when I played bad I would go to early wrist hinge and play better. After seeing this I will just clear my head and use the early right hand hinge. Thanks again.

THIS is exactly what I have spent this year working on... Takes a bloody long time to teach an old dog new tricks but seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Great explanation

I started doing that Elkington stance where the left foot is a little open. I do it as a reminder to turn that left hip to make room for the downswing. Might just be a bandaid for now, but it seems to work okay.

Incredible!! I wish I knew these things 30 yrs ago. I have always "stood-up" at impact. Instructors have videoed me and said to "stay down". They NEVER told me how to do this. On your lesson I didn't really understand open-or-shut at top (in relation to wrist break )(Hogan or Nicklaus). Thanks, Tom in L.A.

Standing up through impact is basically thrusting your groin at the ball instead of keeping your bum pushed back. Maintain spine angle coming down by keeping your bum pushed back. Spine angle is lost on the way by pushing too hard too soon off the right leg, so wait a bit longer after the transition from backswing into downswing before you push off your right leg. This will keep your bum pushed back & maintain spine angle longer in the downswing and stop you standing up through impact.

Good advice Russell,I’m having problems with my take away as I am inclined not to bend my right wrist,hence lack of distance and a high ball flight,will practice your instruction at the range.

Great video Russell. I've always found the one piece takeaway hard to integrate with the rest of the backswing so the early hinging of the wrists is so much easier. It feels like one movement then rather trying to piece two movements together. Nice one.

My local coach introduced the concept of "losing an arm-wrestling match" at the top of the backswing (which you also outline in this video). I think the difference is my local coach did not incorporate the concept of forearm rotation which makes perfect sense. I started this season at an 18.1 and I'm still an 18.1. Maybe this will help with my ball striking and I can finally break 18!

Your video is coming up over the weekend. You will need to work more on your backswing than anything else. (More lateral bend / steeped shoulders as you drift forward in downswing.) sorry it’s taken too long but been busy.... 👍

Hi Russell, I have been watching your channel for a while and love the content. I enjoy the description now know why I was a flipper of the wrist. I would love to visit , but Australia is a bit far away. Keep the videos coming please. I tend to grip the club tight, do you have a section on grip pressure please?

I started this early hinge yesterday with my irons and it works! I agree with Hogan there is no better feeling then hitting the sweet spot of the club! So then I went through my bag and my driver has some slicing and blocks. This morning after more of the same..great irons but poor driver. I tried narrowing my take away with my driver. I recall when Tiger was in his 2nd or 3rd awaking and I was living Scotland years ago the big thing was that he got his distance from his wide take away. So that became my goal. Thus, my question: where should the early hinge and hands be with the longer clubs like the driver- 3 wood and longer irons! Thank you! Nick from St Louis

Excellent video as always! Question, when I open my hips to start my downswing and get into the squat power position, should I rely on my shoulders to rotate into the ball or utilize my right hand for speed on my release?

Yes, 8:10 in, that is me, I cast, early release, hit it fat, hit it thin! How do you hold the wrist angle until further in the downswing for a better release at impact? Push down with the left hand, pull back the right hand? Confused!
@russellheritagegolf

I would ensure your lower body is creating the correct rotation to make space first, then I would work in the right wrist to hold extension.

I disagree with most of your opinions expressed in this video. I think that you would benefit by learning more about using an intact LAFW swing technique - as described in this part 1 video starting at the 22:20 minute time point. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qLR4fKmqmcreeZs.html Jeff.
