The new Russian tactic of motorcycle assault is aimed to minimise the risk of attack by Ukrainian drones, and break through enemy defenses. A video released by Russian defence ministry shows motorcycle riders zigzagging across a field to reach a Ukrainian trench
Russian soldiers riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, quadricycles and dune buggies now account for about half of all attacks in some areas of the front, as per Ukrainian military. The new tactic is the latest Russian adaptation for a heavily mined, continually surveilled battlefield as Moscow’s forces work to achieve small tactical gains. As its army advances, Russia has experimented with multiple approaches to crossing exposed fields.

It's not about the cost. It's more like tanks and trucks are slow enough to be an easier target now due to the massive usage of drones while motorcycles are much faster. It's about mobility.

They missed the russain rambo, who solo on a bike took a whole Ukrainian trench line and then on his own held that line for 8 days! Surviving on rain water and food that was left in those trenchs. Its a searchable story. Quite amazing bravery.

@@detox4325 in fact there are numerous drone videos of Russians individually attacking trenches on foot going back last couple of years now, so it's no surprise that this also occurs on fast bikes. Just cos you can't accept something doesn't mean it is not the case, the videos which can be found if you look hard enough are proof enough and numerous.

They're using bikes like African soldiers do in the Sahel. That's where Russia picked up this tactic from. 2 soldiers per bike can sneak up on an enemy from left to right. tanks and armored car vehicles are good in some situations, but in this conflict, FPV drones are taking out tanks in high numbers on both sides. However, it's difficult for a drone to take out motorcycles riding next to a tree line. Because of technology, war has changed drastically. Tanks just don't cut it anymore in many situations.....they are not mobile enough and there are hundreds of drones in sky from both sides just picking off tanks and other armored vehicles.

Drones don't have to be just in the air. Use land based drones. If you mass produce them they could be actual lawn mowers, the short grass showing where the path is safe landmine wise. Also consider better cover to hide heat signatures if you're doing a night attack.
