Larry checks out a more modernized version of the AK 74. The AK 74m, a mildly heavier gun, is in its Pre-Production prototype form, and is slightly more controllable than it's predecessor.

AK-74M is already in service since the '90s, the rifle that you're carrying is actually the AK-74M3 variant

I like non modified 74m I love it. Good without rails and all other stuff. I put a Rail on side for optic that's it.

Uniform Tango 74 After thinking about it.. the rear sight leaf on ak's will flop around during slow mo footage, yet is un-noticeable by the human eye.. maybe it's that sort of issue.. since forward and back movement would obviously affect elevation..

@@Khalid0786abu Exactly. I’ve only shot 308 from a bolt action before and I was surprised how easy it was to handle recoil. 308 is a way bigger cartridge but even that was just like a slight push. Larry is a very good shooter of course but with a small caliber like that, good cheek weld, grip and posture, that shouldn’t be very hard to control. An AKS74U with its size or an actual AK47/AKM would be more impressive to shoot fully automatic and still be on target.

+boostamante64 i saw that too, it shouldn't matter too much though as long as the movement is only along the barrel, not side-to-side or up and down of course i don't know alot about guns

+deathdisclover999 If the mount is moving forwards and backwards the point of impact is going to change vertically, horizontally too perhaps, it really is dependent on the distance you fire at but it will affect the accuracy of the optic.

All gun move when being fired... they are not permanently glued together... Every piece must be able to move, thus creating little gaps of movement when the gun is fired... You won't be able to notice it in real life.. only with if you watch yourself shoot after in slow motion.

Optics should not move period. Any movement will effect accuracy. I find it hard to believe the cover is mil spec

It sure seems like the optic rail is moving with the recoil of the weapon,, but returns to it's locked position before the bolt closes.. which would still deliver rounds on target..

Did you feel like the birdcage style flash suppressor gave up some control versus the old AK-74 muzzle brake? It certainly doesn't look like it from the video.

It seems much better look and ergonomic features while using a KLASNIKOV CONCERN'S 'Ak 400 proto type' rear latch & cross pin lock system on this upgraded AK74's top cover, instead of using like U.S. based Dexas weapon system's one. coz the Dexas type rear system gives as an odd look to over roll the rifle iconic ......

Still hope to see a VSK-94 or VSS. But i doubt you'll get your hands on one. Maybe a VSSK. But thats a rather exotic gun too. Its sad not to see a A-545 whilst not being the best gun it seems quite interesting to me. (Yes i know of the AEK-971).

VSK-94 is generally a substandard VSS. VSSK is also not that good.

Hm, i noticed that most of not russian vlogers took the bolt carrier using left hand with AK, but russian solders doing it using right hand.

I don't understand why every AK doesn't have the notched safety.. (the little notch cut in the back of the top of the safety that aligns with the charging handle when pulled all the way to the rear, so you can use the safety as a bolt hold open when safety is engaged)

It may be slightly less accurate than the likes of the M4 or M16, but darn it, she shoots like a beauty. I love me some AKs, but ARs are amazing too! People say 'rifle is fine', but the advantages of longer sight radius with railed iron sights, ease of target acquisition with red dots, torches and other dohickeys all play important roles for the modern day soldier. An AK with modern attachments, superfluous as some may say, is a weapon I'd trust over a vanilla AK. But still. The old girl is kicking, and that's a good kick... A lot of people will complain about the gas tube rails rocking back and forth but the rear dust cover seemed stable enough. According to the Russian users in the Alpha AK video where they use railed dust covers, they note it retains zero fine for their purposes.
