The AK-12 and AK-15 are Russian assault rifles chambered in 5.45×39mm and 7.62×39mm, respectively.

They are designed and manufactured by #Kalashnikov Concern (formerly Izhmash). It is one of the modern derivatives of the Russian AK-Pattern series of assault rifles.
The final production model of the #AK12 5.45×39mm assault rifle is said to be more reliable, more accurate and better suited to the latest Russian military requirements. It is based on the AK-400 (Base Prototype) and it is still chambered for the 5.45×39mm cartridge. It has a cyclic rate of fire of 700 rounds per minute (RPM), a barrel length of 415 mm (16.3 in), a maximum firing range of 800 m (870 yd), and a standard magazine capacity of 30 rounds. It is also compatible using magazines from the AK-74, RPK-74, and the 96-round drum magazine from the RPK-16.

@Joe Figueroa can't agree bro Kalashnikov doesn't compromise with quality 1 faulty gun = 1 dead soldier and moreover it is necessary to be cheap at price to mass produce and supply of to allies more over AR might be modern at the same time , if suddenly it's Gyroscope sensors shuts down due to low battery or sensor failure that's it , soldier losses half of his strength .

They actually got rid of the left-side selector switch on the final revision, as far as anything I can find indicates. It's all on the right again like more classic AKs. Good shots of the extension on it to operate it with one finger, though.

They could streamline production by having a box section aluminum extrusion instead of stamped reciever and plate top covers and handgrips. The front of the extrusion could have key holes for mounting lasers, sights and any other optics. It just needs the holes drilled to hold all the working parts in the same place as the stampings of the old reciever. They could have a steel extrusion if they want to keep it super cheap. Also, it could be a bullpup with no mods to the innards.

Maybe someone is not in the know, but the United States has banned any country from buying any Russian weapons under the threat of sanctions. I'm not kidding. CAATSA is the 2017 U.S. Counteraction of America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. This normative legal act threatens to use unilateral American restrictions against states that acquire systems of weapons and military equipment from Russia. This is the kind of fair competition in the arms market. Everyone is just in awe of the US behavior. Why was the law only passed so late? It could have been adopted in 1960. Indonesia got scared of the sanctions and abandoned Russian aircraft. Egypt ponders. The S-400 will be secretly sold to 12 countries (orders are already in production). Everything is pretty fun in this circus with American bans for sovereign (!!!) countries to choose their weapons.

Best to actually stick with images of the AK 12 when talking about it. Saw many images of AK 47 on this video being talked about as if it's the AK 12. How do you not see that some of the images don't have the selector switch on the left side of the gun and it's just a standard AK.

Yep, AK-103-3 was used to developed AK-400 platform and later current AK-12. AK-203 was restart from the old AK-200 project a.k.a AK-100M project with upgrade the rail system on the old AK-74M series with some features from AK-400 platform, example with name AK-74M with rail system = AK-200, AK-101M = AK201 etc, AK-203 = AK-103M. AK-103-3 is a experimental model for Ratnik project along with AK-12 Zlobin.

The hinged cover was borrowed from a previous really old model AK. Should have been incorporated on all from the start. The picatinny dust cover mounted rails never held zero, and the side mount sucked. Saigas are awesome though. I live my iz 132 tactical.

In the beginning the AK was the superior rifle to the AR 15 but now they’re trying to make the AK more like it by changing to a caliber with less recoil and changing the ergonomics to add lasers, modern optics, and flashlights.
