Vivin I think mistaken what Patrick said, probably due to language which is understandable. Patrick meant that the RPG-29 is super effective, and can easily neutralize any modern MBT in existence. Patrick I agree whole heartedly with you about active defense. Israel has been actively developing such a system called Trophy. It is basically cannister shots directed by close in radar that shoots down any incoming rockets. There are immense challenges such as what if you have supporting infantry, would they be harmed if this system activates? Can it be easily spoofed, etc. The next level of active anti rocket defense which would find immense use is defended big gunned assets from the MBT up to Carriers, are laser defense systems. This technology could potentially make missles/rockets obsolete if you can develop a system of laser and prisms that can defend in a 360 arc and have unlimited shots against any inbound missile/rocket.

The rpg 29 never destroyed an m1a2,they did heavily damage 3 thar are known,all rear sides of turret where no tank can handle those kinds of hits,the one picture where you see a hole in the front mantlet of an m1a1 was caused by a hellfire missle in order to keep it from being used after leaving it behind. The 1 abrams with its turret blown off was because they put 500 lbs of explosives in it to destroy it. All it would have taken would have been cage armour around the m1s like the danish and germans did in afghanistan to stop 80 percent of missle and rpg attacks.
