A destroyer operating in waters in the Baltic Sea got a bit of a scare when Russian fighter planes buzzed its deck -- 31 times over two days. The White House is planning to file a diplomatic protest. David Martin has more.

If a Russian ship was in the Gulf of Mexico, you don't think the USA would be outraged? So how does an American ship in the Baltic sea differ? Posts below saying Russian needs to beck off and such no Obama needs to stop instigating and starting WW3

US Navy "operations" in the area: launching the new permanent, orbital nuclear deployment system that was developed as part of our military government's active Full Spectral Dominance policy of War diplomacy. This system woulda made Reagan stain his Star Wars sheets. It went up with the aid of the EU as well as the now weaponized and nationalized NASA. Fuck "buzzing" the boats, US missiles would have killed and sunk everything in the water for miles before anyone had a camera out were the circumstances reversed. Putin's patience in my opinion is admirable and undeserved.

Its just the way the Russians says @Hello!@ in 40 miles to Kaliningrad, there is no agression in it, the sailor are calm bcz they knew it and like a free airshow, it was a frienly act to a dear and respected guests!!! Its like YEAH we see you, tracking and monitoring, not all of us drinking VODKA today, It is far more dangerous when Russian does't come to say Hello in there boarders, nobody attack a missile destroyer with 2 jets and transport helicopter its just no sence, there are HYPERSONIC Bastion coast guard installation in Baltic sea, the Missile have so much kinetic energy at speed 20 times of sound it no need a warhead

That is nearer to Russian territory so Russian has the right to investigate to protect Russian allies from intruders. Compared to US who came more than 5,000 miles away. Russian jets never bombed any nation at that area but US did in many areas.

So they are trying to contact the Russians in Russian? Or in English cause then I don’t think it should be noted that you are trying to contact a pilot from a country that isn’t yours when your not trying to talk to them in a language they may not speak. If they did attempt to speak to them in Russian then you can inform the public about that.

+T Jill I'm not sure if I'd say this is an act of war but sailing a warship into the Baltic sea, so close to Russia, certainly seems like provocation. We're lucky the Russians didn't have any weapons!

Hey Grumpy Old Man! Think about it, what would happen if the Russians sailed a warship into the Gulf of Mexico (assuming they didn't sail through US territory)? Would the US military really say 'It's okay, we'll just leave them be!' No, my guess is that they'd be a lot more than a few fly-bys!..

This happened in international waters, and radio communication was ignored by pilots, nor did they attempt to communicate their intentions. the ship has every right to blast that bastard out of the sky! especially because they approached in an attack posture.

Not really it's international waters they can fly where they want. They had no visible weaponry on the planes so shooting them down would have been stupid.
