I had a Russian friend in college here in Canada studying ESL(English as a second language) named Семён (pronounced Semyon). He would always write his name on the board as Semen (thats how it is spelled in Russian). Teachers were laughing every time and eventually told him to change it to Simon

For english speaking people I always say that my name is Sam, because it's shorter than Simon and doesn't have this strange e (which causes a lot of problems with documents even in Russia, because some organisations write ё in name and some doesn't). P.s. my name is Семён)

@@KatyaLishch Угу, вот только Китайцы варятся в своем интернете, поэтому их сложно увидеть в том интернете, к которому мы привыкли, испаноязычные живут в основном в Южной Америке, В Испании самой меньше 50 миллионов населения. Эти ребята и правда в частности имеют представительство в интернете, вот только там все плохо с английским и они не выходят в реддит и прочие ресурсы, их редко встретишь в комментариях в ютубе. Такая же история с португальским. Позавчера общался с парнем из Перу. На счет арабского ничего не скажу, не бывают я в тех интернетах. Они должны быть в районе инстаграмма, не дальше. Даже под видео с арабскими гонками по барханам я арабской вязи не видел. Однако, у современного поколения все прекрасно с английским, лучше чем в россии точно. Все, дальше судить сложно. Индонезийцы есть, французы должны знать английский и им пользоваться чаще в интернетах. Японцы слишком консервативны в социальном плане, но это все высасано из стереотипов и пальца. Непонятно, где Индусы. Их как бы столько же сколько и Китайцев, они везде, куча видео от индусов, целый мем есть про то, что на все есть гайды на ютубе от индусов, но в этой статистики их нет. Странно. Однако, думаю, мы согласимся, что в киберспорте кричат сука-блять, мемы на реддите про русский язык в играх и кириличные ники. Носителей Белорусского языка и Украинского можно считать за русскоязычных пользователей, да простит меня суверинетет этих стран с их гордым народом. Есть три типа лжи, большая - маленькая и статистика. Видимо, где-то как-то не

@@lkikost1625 возможно русские - одна из самых прокрастинирующих наций, проводящих очень много времени в интернете и за играми, возможно поэтому производительность труда в России гораздо ниже чем у всех развитых стран, а образование не так востребовано, у нас предпочитают финансировать силовиков, вместо науки с образованием, любят пострелять видимо.

I'm half-Russian. Grew up with two languages. A friend of mine was named Panayotis, he was from Greece and desperately wanted us to call him " Panos ". As a Russian, I should note that in Russian there are several male names that sound somewhat ambiguous in English. For example Georgy (similar pronounce to Gay Orgy) or Sergey - Sir Gay.

The "backwards" sounding Russian has an explanation: Most of the words in English end with vowels, so the flow of speech is almost uninterrupted, like a song. One word stacks with another like a jigsaw puzzle. It starts abruptly but then they drag the word. Russian on the other hand has majority of the words ending with consonants, so speaking Russian is like jumping on the river rocks, one by one. (I'm native russian speaker) We drag our words and then end them abruptly. So it's basically English in reverse.

@No One Согласен. Тут ещё нужно учитывать момент, что в отличие от английского языка, в русском слова склоняются и поэтому часто оканчиваются на гласные. Пример: "Во поле берёза стояла, во поле кудрявая стояла, ой люли, люли, люли, люли стояла". Здесь ни одно слово не оканчивается на согласную. Ну, допустим, это специфический случай - текст песни, в которой нужно подчеркнуть мелодичность. Но вот элементарный случай: "Не подскажите сколько времени?"

@No One согласна в вашим замечанием. Когда читала комментарий выше, сразу подумала: наоборот же! Возможно, это от того, что в английском слова начинаются! на гласные и заканчиваются согласными (все окончания), а в русском - наоборот, поэтому и звучит так)
