This helps people understand why it's not cheap to get a firearm re-blued properly... Big investment in time, space, equipment, skill and effort. Your clip was extremely enjoyable to watch. Regards from Australia.

Excellent video, very informative. I ordered the Dicropan IM kit last week along with some other supplies. I have been trying to read up and research all the information I could get about this. I talked to the gun techs a couple of weeks ago and decided that I would go with Dicropan IM for the amount of work that I do. Thank you again for taking the time to produce these videos.

Thanks for the video. I followed this instruction to reblue a worn out pistol. It turned out pretty good for my first try. I was very watchful to prevent water from getting on the work, which meant throwing away my hose/cotton applicators or steel wool if there was a chance of water contamination. A gunsmith advised me that Dicropan was better for Colts, for original color.

Thank you for the video Scott! One question: I can see where this would be ideal for solid steel barrels (like a Vulcan or Trojan steel Parkers), but are there special processes that need to be done for damascus barrels? THANKS!

They look great, but what do you use cover the soft solder along the ribs, where the bluing doesn't take to it ,is there a product available to blacken the soft solder?

Excellent Video that should be included with the Dicropan Instructions, Thanks. Could this finish technique be used on a Belgian Damascus barrel made in1800? The gun is a small bore (1/2 inch) side by side, muzzle loading Fowler with soft soldered ribs. The Damascus patterns in the barrels and upper rib are stunningly beautiful, but have shallow rust in places without pitting. I would like to preserve/ enhance the Damascus pattern. The gun was made in the Tuscany region of Italy with Belgian Proof marks on the barrel, but no Maker's Mark. The gun is hand crafted with Gorgeous relief carvings of faces in floral into a German walnut burl. Again Thx for any advice.

No disrespect to you scottie but there is absolutely no way id drill two holes in the rib, no way at all, i`m also not 100% convinced of using this blacking solution from Brownhills, i`d need to be able to see for myself before I gave a verdict, Having said that, I know you caustic blue and your blueing is good so if your say this is good then Ive got to think its ok but i still want to see for myself

So, he calls the boiling tank, "the boiling tank", ok, got that. The rinse tank he calls "the rinse tank", um, ok, got that one as well. So what the hell is up with the other tank he keeps calling the "909 tank"? Everything else is self explanatory, but what the hell is 909?

I was wondering the same thing, so I Googled it. Here's the answer: BROWNELLS - DICRO-CLEAN NO. 909
