I'm impressed with just how good that crane respray looks. Nobody would believe what a battered up old crane that was a couple of months ago. Like you said before you rarely get to see the jobs finished after you blasted them so must have been a pleasant surprise. I know what you meant with the weather I went out at 6:30am this morning & it was -3°c it's dropped to 3 or 4 degrees a couple of times in last couple of weeks but today is first time this winter into the minus.

I recommend getting some thin merino gloves to wear under your work gloves, this works out better than buying thermal work gloves that either get lost or wear out by the time you want them. The crane looks superb, your blasting certainly paid off, impossible to get as good a finish otherwise.

We use Celsius I know it doesn't sound mega cold but it was 14° the day before dropping to 2° was too fast for me to get ust to 😂 I've been fine working on the van this weekend and it's been 4° just tuck me off guard dropping as fast as it did 🥶

Mick ,try putting on a pair of latex gloves first then your other gloves ,I used to do it when I was bricklaying in the winter,it’s like having a cavity where the air is trapped inside try it it might surprise you.

A bricky told me this a few years back and it works a treat
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 6 ай бұрын
@lesbaty8919 I've tried it it works to some degree but the blow back is just too much for gloves to cope fitting the cooler is a perfect way to be able to dry the air (dry air is essential for the pot to operate properly) but it lowers the ambient air to aprox 15° and the volume and speed of air required to blast is unavoidable I think some heated gloves or wind proof plus insulation is required 😊

Check the fuel pick up tube inside the tank, mine was corroded and was pulling air in threw pinholes in it, i fould it after replacing every fuel line on the compressor xD
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 6 ай бұрын
😳 It's plastic I believe? I've removed the screen off the bottom of the pickup pipe in the tank thinking it was that but it's kinda temperament as I can prime it up and it will be fine then 1 day it's in limp mode I was thinking the auto drain may be at fault or the elbow on the housing. I don't want to spend too long trying to fix it tho because like I say I plan on putting a external tank and running new pipes etc

I just wondered how you control the waste products created from the sand blasting? looks like a car park and grassed area covered in glass based sand and a mixture of old probably oil based paint that potentially could contain lead if the paint was old enough. Do you clean the area afterwards? that must be a huge job?
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's crushed glass none toxic and the paint was water-based should biodegrade. lead has been banned for a very long time in the UK even longer for vehicles. (Oil based paint is also banned for commercial use and this truck was made after that law) the customer body shop is happy with the mess been left its their private land 👍

Should be putting some heavy plastic sheeting down on the ground to catch as much paint debris as possible to minimise pollutants in the soil and cover up the hydraulic lines, cab and the radiation/cooling system for the truck. That media gets everywhere and doing some preventative measures will stop you damaging stuff
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 6 ай бұрын
You could spend pointless hours (putting more co2 into the environment with heavy plastic sheeting) sheeting the ground up or you could research and use recycled media that is not toxic to the environment also delve a little deeper and find out what's been removed water-based paint none toxic and biodegradable. Then you could waste I duno how many hours masking pipes engine components etc or you could have (well I wouldn't like to guess hour many hours of experience) someone like me doing these and still yet to damage any pipes wires or even damage the engine components. Or you could get a guy that's new and not much skills and end up doing as you say. (Spending lots of hours doing pointless stuff and billing for it) Please don't tar me with the same brush as a start up alot more is going off that's not been filmed. I'm not a how too channel purely just something I enjoy doing I'm not saying it's right way or the wrong way I'm just saying what I believe and is the most cost affective way of doing this. Because as said before alot that's not shown is value for money start hitting them with a bill for sheeting and masking up the likely hood is your not going to be competitive and they will find other methods to do this then that's the end of that.

No that depends on how dry you can keep it humidity levels etc. I've had stuff sitting in unit for months and it still looks as good as it was 1st blasted and I've had stuff blast in the morning and left it in the van to drop it off and later in the day and it looked as bad as I've not blasted it 😂
