In this video I will be cleaning out and removing the rust on this 35 year old gas tank. That way we can re use this tank instead of buying a new one. I like saving money and the environment. 🍻
The Xj got cancer. The gas tank is Rusted inside because it ain’t got no gas in it. I put together a cheap organic Concoction. Best part is it’s an over the counter product and not super harsh on the environment. Its sure to put this jeep in remission. Did the XJ beat cancer? 😅

Man, I really should've done this when I had the tank out of my partner's XJ (I had it out when I fit a bash plate and tow hitch), or even mine when I put the fuel tank into it when I converted it back to petrol from LPG.

Man, you missed the point of the "restoration" by not re-lining the interior of the tank. Everything was great until then. Then your reasoning to not re-line it? 🤔 If having fuel in it was the solution, manufacturers would never line them. Othen than that part, great video. 👍

Thank you! I do recommend using the sealer, but for the cost of a new tank it just doesn’t make sense to put the sealer right now, but to just get it cleaned and no rust. Also I did fogg the entire inside of the tank to prevent flash rusting. In the beginning of the video I mention at the start of the jeep xj restoration series that the jeep sat for many years. That’s what caused the tank to rust. I believe if the tank didn’t sit for so long or the appropriate steps were took to store the tank properly (keep it full) ect. there would be little to no rust at all. I don’t plan on letting the jeep sit I plan on using it and keeping the tank topped off should keep the rust from coming back in theory . I also added the magnets in the case some rust were to come back and lastly I don’t think the rocks did much harm to any of the original coating. But ey time will tell and I’m going to experiment a bit with that part. I appreciate the feedback 🍻
