Top Tip for the rattle can painters out there. When it is cold it can take ages to get the paint to mix in the can properly and it wont spray well. 1/2 an hour before painting put your paint cans into a bucket/bath of warm water and give them a chance to warm the paint a bit. It really helps it mix when shaking it up and if you are using a fill type of primer it will help prevent the can from getting clogged up. If it is a colour top coat it will save you shaking for so long to ensure it will be consistent for the entire can. If the temp is under 20 c it helps a lot. Another tip if the paint is thick out of the rattle can when you are finished for the session and there is still paint left in the can you turn it upside down and give them a short burst of spray to clear the nozzle and valve assembly in the spray can so next time it is clear and will spray properly. This job takes me back to the 80's welding up rust and using rattle cans to fix a Valiant...

I like it when the build comes in less then $10k. Love it when it's less then $5k and basic home shed and tools are used. I didn't have a shed (to fit the car in) for my first two engines and one gearbox tear downs. Keep it real Scot.

Just thought af a memory about screaming past a minibus in my 1970 Mini in 2004... about 30kms later stopped at Maccy Ds near Dundee in Scotland, I was confronted by some super friendly Aussies from said minibus who asked what the hell was powering the thing! I happily obliged in removing the bonnet showing the big block 250 bhp XE 16v 2.0 powerplant (Holden/ Vauxhall/ Opel with lsd gearbox & weighing 560kgs wet)! Which then got the reply: the only thing that comes in 2ltr in OZ is milk & juice!!! I apparently had awoken one of the guys from his sleep who thought it was a loud bike only to be told it was a Mini!! I was doing 140 mph at the time... on a private road obviously 😉

2020 has not only kicked OZ in the nuts, but twisted them off to boot, Scotty. I'm still on the Cossie Viva... firewalling etc. It's keeping me sane doing this and the bonus side of UK lockdown is that I've managed to get a whole years worth of spare time work done in a few weeks! Keep safe buddy & look after your boy & the family. Much love from Leigh & Rachel.

Budget went WAY out the window on BOTH cars. 😉 I'm just trying to keep up with the five brinks trucks already thrown at Trolvo and the constantly moving goalposts. 🤷 If I get this build 100% done for under 20K total for everything, I'll be cheering. 😁👍 If I used a workshop, this build would be closer to 40-50K. 😬
