RUSTY Car Spotting on the Streets of Milwaukee!

In today's special video, I drive up and down the streets of Milwaukee (a city well within the rust belt) to do a special twist on ‪@DougDeMuro‬'s car spotting videos of late, but instead of looking at nice / rare cars, I focus on the rust buckets. Enjoy!

For some reason I find this fascinating to watch. I also live in the rust belt, and if the vehicle is over 10 years old, the earth starts to reclaim it. Some vehicles rust worse, i like to take note of those older chevy trucks and dodge caravans because of a personal connection with them. Good video.

I live near Milwaukee. I immigrated from the 1st world. There are no MOT annual tests here and the vehicles are homicidally dangerous.... (tires/rust etc). Similarly, people ride motorcycles whilst wearing no helmets, and death through head injuries are many.... It still makes my jaw drop when i see vehicles that would be grounded within 2 miles in Europe..

@@brycegman8150 I live near Milwaukee and we buy only Toyotas. My wife just sold her Camry that she bought in 2007 and had hardly any rust. I sold my 2007 camry the year before--no rust. Junk like Ford rusts

@@SunofYork Yeah I live in greenfield - basically milwaukee. I've owned a corolla and rav4. both rust, like everything else. anecdotes are only useful for confirmation of bias with like minded individuals. If you live in an area where people have little extra money they will stretch everything till it breaks and then finally spend money. You live in one of those areas. The rotted out cars are a symptom of a problem, can you figure out what it is?

@@brycegman8150 The problem is US designed cars.... Our two Camrys lasted 19 years and we only sold em through boredom and to try and get rid of all this money rather than leave it to worthless offspring, one of whom hates me and has threatened my life...... Both Camrys were made in Kentucky and have more US components than any other car.... Its down to design... Trumpniks like big red rusty Ford pickups that make them feel tough.... Toyota sedans is the way to go...

@@SunofYork sorry about your kids, sounds like it sucks. I think trump sucks too. Most vehicles in the last 15 years are fine. Toyota or otherwise, based on my experience working on a scrap yard part time

16:33 that was actually a Freestar, the 2004-2007 "update" to the Windstar. Mine had 230k and ran like a top but being in Michigan its whole life destroyed the subframe :(

@@TopherParkerCars LOL. As a pretty much lifelong Ford guy I noticed it immediately 😁🤣 I loved my Freestar, it was an 04 Limited with all the goodies except the TV system. It drove beautifully, and if it wasn't for the salt completely destroying it I'd still have it. By 230k miles the subframe was completely wrecked, from the cradle having holes in it where the body mounts went, to the control arms and everything in between having holes in it. The rear wheel wells both had holes that went straight into the interior that you could fit a golf ball into. You could stick your hand from the outside into the trunk. It wasn't good. That's what Michigan does to cars, sadly.

I live in the midwest, been in michigan and wisconsin. I watched my dakota turn into dust over the course of about 10 years. Hard to find them without rust around here. Even if you take it to the car wash and try to get the salt off, those things rust everywhere, even the roof.

That caddy is a 3rd gen Seville, a 4 to 5L V8 engine that powers the front wheels on those.

It's sad how early 2000's GMC and Toyota trucks are probably some of the most reliable vehicles ever made, but they have such bad rust problems.

Perhaps it’s because they last so long, they stay on the road longer and are exposed to more salt and water.

I live in Alberta which is a dry climate but almost every truck that is going on to 10 years old or older weather it;s a Ford Chevy Nissan Toyota Dodge all rust out around the rear wheel wells.

Not at all surprising. Most people in the US would rather have to buy a new truck every 8 years for $80k because the "old one" rusted out on them than to spray the body panels and chassis with liquid rustproofing every year before winter season. Eastern Canada gets more road salt and calcium every year than the US rust belt, yet older cars & trucks look much nicer there and last 3x longer. Rustproofing for the win!
