People saying to buy a new one have no idea the aim of such KZfaq channel. Also, they don't know that you can get much more than $5 with views here. Nice job. Thanks.

Next time when you drill holes into bridle existing holes drill in reverse and the wood will heat up and char and not split it will solidify the wood, a old Japanese technique

Have so many of these, really must get round to doing one! I buy them for the steel and make springs for pipe wrenches. Love the hex bolt heads on the old handle, keep up the good work

Splitting the handle while drilling out the hole goes to show that sometimes it's best leave something alone. I do not understand the need to drill out the holes as the holes wouldn't show once the blade is re-riveted to the handle.
@thenorthernrestorer4802
@thenorthernrestorer4802 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leonard, the holes had to be drilled slightly bigger to accept the new sleeve/bolts replacing the rivets. Thanks for watching!

I don't understand why you would spend so much time and effort to restore a $1.98 tool that nobody cared enough to maintain in the first place . How much sentimental value could it have ?.............Update I had not read the " About " section of the channel before leaving this post . I now understand the reasoning of this work . My apologies . Well done . A worthy endeavor. 😃🇺🇸👍🇬🇧

Great video, I personally like to keep the tools intact and original, giving them what I call a rustic renovation. Keep up the good work on here and Instagram - Wild Ground Vintage

The metal could have been polished more using a buffing wheel.

Unfortunately I didn't have a buffing wheel during the making of this video. I done the best I could with what I had. Thanks for the advice

Probably would have been less aggregation if you had just gone out and bought a new one, especially when the handle cracked... Yikes! Still, good job.
@williambranham6249
@williambranham6249 3 жыл бұрын
Aggregation? The point of this video was to showcase restoration vs. being a consumer.

@@williambranham6249 ... Damn that auto correct. I typed out aggravation. I was making light. Google's auto-correct changed it to aggregation. 😠
@williambranham6249

Autocorrect produces some words, I think, that are not even considered to be words. Strange. I guess aggregation is a word. I think Google needs to improve their autocorrect algorithm.

Not to sound discouraging or put down or anything like that, but you took a $5 dollar paint scraper and probably worked on it for a few long hours, not including new parts, and ended up with a $5 dollar paint scraper. Now if that is your hobby, then Bravo for refurbishing this. However if you are doing it for any other reason, I just don't see the reason... Thumbs Up for your efforts...
