Well this was a TOUGH travel trailer back in and we had a few other hiccups during this RV vlog/ RV living adventure. Thankfully RV camping at Loveland Bay Provincial Park was one of the nicest BC campgrounds we've ever experienced! How can you beat camping with your own private beach!
With a tight single lane road back in and Chloe taking a serious bonk on the face it was a stressful start to this RV camping spot but we had it to enjoy for 7 days and we really enjoyed getting to RV vlog here. There was also a dirt road to get here so definitely not for the faint of heart but if you put in the work to get here and set up it's pretty worth it. The RV camping pads are all nicely leveled and new with concrete pads, tables and even stairs with hand rails (sometimes) down to each of the beach accesses! We will have a day in the RV life vlog coming out next week showing more of this beautiful area so stay tuned!
And thanks for joining us on this RVing vlog too friends!

Walkie talkie saves us from large backing in arguments at campsites and switching to class C motorhome 24 foot helped too. :)

Thanks, and thanks for watching! Wish we would have showed the road and how narrow it was more for truck swing but oh well, we got it in and made it work which is all the name of the game and gaining experience. Totally worth it for that spot! Cheers 🍁

We have stayed at that exact sight. It is as tight back in. We used to camp with a truck camper, but last year we purchased a travel trailer, it is 35’ long from hitch to bumper. The first thing we did was purchase a set of walky talkies so we could communicate where ever we went. Best investment ever. They help for backing in, and for ground guiding in tight spots, because of the trailer rear swing, that you can’t always see from the mirrors. They eliminate a lot of stress, and make camping more enjoyable.

Thanks Vicki! We definitely didn't do enough justice showing the road etc for how the conditions were but in the end it did indeed all work out. What a beautiful spot out there though. No wonder they gave it Provincial Park status even if it's down a dirt road kind of in the middle of no where. Take care and happy holidays to you! 🍁

Experience will guide you in the future , the more you tow , the better you get, there will come a time when you won't need walkie talkies , you can picture a 3 dimensional image of your site in your head and honestly can probably back up with your eyes closed. As we like to say out on the water " time on the water, and turns on the prop".

Have to gain the experience somehow right! Sometimes it takes a tougher spot to keep you on your toes, and to be extra aware of the truck nose swing on single lanes as well. At least no damage was done to anything, that's always the main thing right haha 🍁

Luke , I'm a retired trucker , and after almost 45 yrs. of backing those dang things into tight spots all I can say is sometimes you have to bend rules like one-ways cause otherwise it's ridiculously difficult or downright impossible to get done the task at hand . Even if you have to post Alysha on the road to block any other vehicles you might meet going down the road the wrong way . ( I've done it on city streets so I wouldn't worry about a campground trail ). As for poor little Chloe , thankfully the Good Lord made the little ones pretty tough and I'm sure she'll recover quickly and be on her way to her next calamity .
@LukeandAlysha

Fair Brian! The biggest issue was the single lane road was so narrow for nose swing that we kept ending up tires in the ditch or dealing with nose swing to the bank, combined with the steep angle. Made for a process but hey as long as the ring gets in damage free that's all part of the camping experience, and gaining experience right haha. Chloe did so well with that big bump too thank goodness, it was certainly her biggest thus far! 🍁

There is nothing worse than backing in when the road is so narrow - no room for the truck to swing, add in trees, ditches, and rocks :( , just plain tough. Enjoy the lake!
@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha Жыл бұрын
Exactly! We didn't show the road to give enough perspective in hindsight and the camera's wide lens never does the steepness justice, sort of similar to when hiking or anything. The angle itself wouldn't have been so bad if you were able to actually set yourself up and not be watching your nose swing in to banks or tires driving up the banks trying to fit down such a tight road, all while the trailer is on a like 45 degree angle sideways haha. The cost of some rural but nice sites sometimes I guess! 🍁

I will add to getting walkie talkies. Ours are a small cobra brand that charge with a double-headed cable just like a cell phone. The Motorola brand did not work as well as the Cobras. I know it is stressful when neighbors are watching. You did great. Pat yourselves on the back because you didn't get mad at each other. Looking at the site, we couldn't have made it in our Class C...we would have dragged the rear-end before it leveled out. For injuries, I freeze some water in a small plastic storage container to make an ice disk. Applying ice is always a good 1st step to reduce swelling.

I call it "Audience Effect". In an empty campground, I can back in around an S-curve uphill in the rain in the middle of the night. Give me 42 people watching, and I can't back up in a straight line at noon on dry pavement into an extra-wide site. 😥

I agree walkie-talkies are the way to go. We use ours all the time because many of the campsites that we use do not have very good cell service. The walkie-talkies are really an expensive way to go. Nice job getting into that site though.

You did just fine backing in, considering what you had to work with! We’ve had a couple sites where BC Parks has placed a large rock opposite the driveway which helps no one with the truck nose swing. I agree with others though, walkie talkies are a game changer. Sorry about Chloe’s owie, she sure is a cutie.

Loveland is beautiful, camped there is summer. The road out was rough but was graded on our way home. The sites are tough to back into for sure. We have a 26ft 5th wheel and a big truck to get into a spot. Right on the lake, your own private beach - what more could we ask for.

What a wild, hidden gem of a Provincial Park hey! Not normal for them to be so rural and down dirt roads to enter such a nice and well maintained Prov Park but so worth it when you get a lake site. So worth the trip out there to escape it all for a bit. So quiet being away from town etc 🍁

That wasn't an easy spot to get into. Maybe easy to get it in but not the best spot for the site. It looks like a beautiful spot. Chloe will have lots of bumps and bruises so relax. The hard ones come much later when the heart gets broken. My youngest just dumped her b/f and it was hard to deal with, harder because mom isn't here and she always seemed to have the right words. I am struggling this close to Christmas, our first without my wife and mom. I was in tears in the mall the other day. We would always do the Christmas shopping together. Love you guys. ❤️🙏❤️

That has to be so tough, sorry to hear that but stay strong Frank! Especially during these special times of year. Hopefully the rest of the family is all staying close and cherishing those memories with you at least. Hope the daughter is doing ok too. Very different now for all of your lives. May you all bond together and learn about each others in new ways at least and enjoy the holidays with the company you do have. Things have been busy here, being back to work and living a normal life again now. This footage is a little more dated now being before winter of course with being able to have been in the lake. With filming so much over the USA and Summer but only uploading 1 or 2 times a week theres a bit of backlog to help in to the off seasons here for us. All doing well on our end though and Chloe is zooming around and even putting together a few 3 - 4 word sentences asking for snacks etc haha. Quite the time. Again hope you guys all take care out east over there and Merry Christmas from us all Frank, Cheers! 🍁

The first big bumps are so scary hey! So glad it all worked out and the swelling got better as we were on the verge of making the trek in to town to get it looked at. We figured they would just say to keep an eye on it and we were pretty remote out there so just glad it all worked out ok. The walkies wouldve been good here too for sure. Normally when it doubt we can use hand signs but the steep hill, angle and forest were all against us this day haha. Narrow road for our 50ft total length but glad it was all worth it! You should check that your 7 pin connector is giving you power to charge using a voltmeter. You should be able to fully charge your lithium battery(s) in just a few hours of driving. The way you’re traveling, one night at a time, you shouldn’t ever need your generator.

@LukeandAlysha
@LukeandAlysha Жыл бұрын
I believe it was fairly hard (as most BC parks seem to be post Covid). I think we may have got a lucky cancellation but those lake side campsites are so worth it if you can book ahead to lock one in! We were there on the tail end of summer and just have a little bag log of footage from so much filming this year while not uploading fast enough to be able to keep up. Walkie Talkies also would've been handy here for sure yup. Normally the cells work and we've also gotten really good at hand sign communication but being down the hill, forest and angle this was a real doozy haha. Made it work at least. Toughest thing was just how darn narrow the road was with steep banks and rocks on each side while trying to maneuver our 50ft total length 90 degrees haha. Cheers! 🍁

It was a wild spot for sure. Just with our length it made it tricky with the truck nose swing so far up the narrow road watching for the ditch and rocks on the bank. A shorter rig likely wouldve had an easier time not being so far down the road to the narrow single lane sections vs being closer to the entrance. Made for good practice under pressure though and as long as no damage is done the pride can handle it and take it as a learning and practice experience. Also I could imagine some people may appreciate others help but we're kind of on Noni and Beard's side where we would rather not have it. I know Alysha's directions and judgement and then if we make a mistake and end up damaging our trailer at least it would be on us, rather than heeding a strangers advice who may or may not know what they are saying, not be looking at all angles of our length and then guide us into damage, to then just leave haha. Worked out though! Hope you have been doing well and are having a happy start to the holidays. Sure wish we were somewhere warmer or back here in beach weather again haha real cold snap coming through right now. lows of -23C for Wednesday, brrr! Merry Christmas!! 🍁
