I just love listening and following you two! Yep, I am one of those.....just bought my RV yesterday. Yahoooo...I am 70 years old and a widow, so it's me and my dog. Am I crazy? Of course I am, but I don't want to sit in my big old house and just let life pass me by. So I appreciate all your advice and ability to laugh when things go wrong...and as you said it will go wrong. Thank you for being there with a smile and a attitude that you can survive it all and make it fun along the way. See you on the road - Linda

Aside from the wealth of tips that you provide us, I admire how each one of you can elaborate or even finish the sentence of the other with so much kindness and accuracy. You should also make videos on “communicating to your spouse effectively”. You two are good for each other.

As an airline pilot we learned the same thing: Standardization...always doing the procedure the same way every time...it also lets the other person (who does it the same way) synch with you...and mistakes STAND OUT..it also builds CONFIDENCE. Checklists can help. We normally do a "flow" which is going through the procedure in the most logical order, say from the front of the RV to the back...and then taking the checklist quickly and running through it to make sure we did it everything correctly, didn't miss anything... rather than taking the time to check it as we go...which takes more time...love your videos. I am researching now on my great ESCAPE as I have retired ...can't decide on either a van only or an Airstream or ??? Your "Zen" is greatly appreciated. :) PS Wow, I was just listening to you talk about the "Devil's Den" and wanted to see it so I google searched it and it's 29 miles from my house!!! :)lol

You guys should start a "how to be successfully married" series! Seriously! Communication was mine and my husband's biggest challenge. We were married for 26 years before we truly learned how to do it fairly successfully. It is so important! You never know how long you have on this Earthly plane. He died two years later. I will be celebrating my 30th by myself this year. But I will be doing it with a happy heart because I am forever and always Marty's wife.

Just bought our 1st travel trailer yesterday. I grew up tent trailering but my husband, NO. He was so terrified of potential wild animals ripping into the tent that he never wanted to even try camping. It took 25 years but he finally agreed to give it a try. I'm so excited to be able to share these experiences with him, or kids and new grandbabies. Thanks for the great videos. We watch them together and that leads to great discussions.

Marc and Trish, I just want to thank you. You were in my head ALL DAY the very first day I drove our RV, a 38' tow trailer that's the Venture version of your Reflection. Take it slow, we make mistakes when we hurry or feel pressure, the guy behind me can wait, do it right no matter how long it takes, watch the crosswinds, don't put things on the bumper where you'll forget them, stay calm, go slow, stay calm, stay calm, go slow. Your advice got me out of some pickles. Your backing-up directions were also SO helpful. Thank you guys so much. We really appreciate all you do here. We'll be heading out to a parking lot with cones and a red rag to drop at the pivot point soon. Just can't thank you guys enough for being in my ear every time I'm out there driving.

Upgrading to my new RV, so I figured I would watch this video again... Great stuff, my 3-years experience I will add. 1. Your recommendations are too heavy on tools, unless you are full time. 2. Bugs are part of RV life, get good spray and roll with it. 3. Those skinny foam kid beds, replace IMMEDIATELY. 4. Bring some movies or games for the day's the weather has you stuck inside, otherwise get outside and enjoy camping. Yes, I love your start with what you can afford philosophy. 3 years, 5 people, in 21 foot bunkhouse, so many great memories, hope my bigger RV is just as much fun!!!!

I know,, I haven't started yet either and yes.. there are times my tummy starts twirling and getting me scared..lol.. But, then like you I start thinking about how better off I am going to be. I am not ready at this time, because I am waiting for a settlement.. After that.. I am going to buy an RV.. smaller one for me. But then I will have to figure out what to take with me. lol..That is another thing to have to figure out. How many of anything do you take??? Clothes, shoes, bedding.. Kitchen items.. And then those things that are really needed for the rig...

I haven't bought an RV or even have the funds to do so at the moment and I get overwhelmed. I wonder "Should I just go for a normal apartment? Would I really want to live stationary full-time in an RV? Even with all the extra work?" And I keep thinking, "Yes." I want a small place I can own and move where I like.

Well, looking at this one Marc, I see it's over a year old, but some great points indeed! I keep a list of all my important numbers (height, width, weight & tank size) on a sheet that is easy to get at in our rig. One thing, regarding boon docking, which you very well may have a video on...since I'm a newbie to your channel, is the batteries themselves! Our Class A is an older unit, but it has a residential fridge, so to keep our four six volt golf cart batteries charged enough, we're running our generator 2 hours in the morning, and similarly at night! 'This' we need to change, so I've been trying to investigate whether to go with AGM batteries, or Lithium...of which we aren't full timers, so Lithium may be overkill...but they have SO much advantages over both lead/acid and AGM its truly hard to drop the idea...other than my wife who keeps telling me their price over and over! Of course the other is to add a solar array, so I'll have to work my way through to find if you've done that as well, as that is a very real possibility prior to our 'Snowbird' exercise this coming winter! I know I carry 90 US gallons of water in our rig, and some don't like carrying the weight, but heck, I fill mine to the top every time, as we have some of the best water in the world....and I prefer to use it, rather than someone else's for our shorter trips especially, as eventually we will of course have to add to it if on longer trips!

Ok how can I help you in this situation? You know that one question could save a trip. I'm such a newbie that I'm still wondering which trailer to buy? How much is enough solar? I know that I absolutely HATE tent camping and last summer I stayed in Pismo with a friend in their 5th wheel. We had a blast! This video was SO helpful. Thank you both for sharing. I was skeptical of your tips on this video till you pulled out the tire tool! My wife and I just bought our first RV Motorhome. It’s a vintage 1977 Dodge Rockwood. We found it on Marketplace with the intent of a classic restore. We drove 7 hours away to pick it up and drive back home. The seller said it would need a brake caliper replaced and it would be good to go. I loaded our Jeep with an arsenal of tools and spare parts for the repair and trip back home. I went to take the wheel off, and low and behold my truck lug wrench would not work! We ended up going to the parts store and buying a new one like you have. Thank you for this video. Subscribed.

Not only were you guys engaging.. but your tips were great and some I've not seen before. Especially the communication tip. Walkie Talkies always save the day (If you use them) They are one of the first things you should purchase. Marriage/partner savers! Anyway... great video once again. (I even took notes!) That's awesome Rainey. Thanks so much! We have so many more Q&A videos coming on things we don't think are being talked about on YT. Can't wait to record. We really want to do a AZ meet-up before we leave, but not sure if we can pull it off in time. That's why I prev. asked you if you followed us on fbook. We'd have to use social media to announce a meet-up, but I don't think everyone is on Social Media.

When we traveled when my kids were little, we use to keep a notebook with our trips, places we visited, cost, gas, mileage, tolls, prep cost, repair cost. These days there's the internet, but it's fun to look back on things written on paper also, because even though google maps says 7 hrs 45 mins, that doesn't include traffic. Also, my husband always over packed tools, I overpacked clothes and food. Comes in handy when you blow a tire on the George Washington Bridge in NY. I'm sure you remember that bridge as much as I remember that memory that we will never forget. (We now travel miles around that dreadful bridge) A small notebook makes a great traveling diary. You get my point 😉

I absolutely LOVE watching you and your family on new adventures! I recently found your page and have been watching ALL I can to learn everything I need to know, what to buy, what truck to purchase, which toy hauler to buy. I have lived in Alaska for all my life. I sold my house and moving to San Antonio, TX getting a job where it’s completely working remote. You all inspire me. You do a great job explaining everything in full detail. I am a little scared since I have never lived anywhere else but it’s time to break free from Alaska and adventure other states starting in Texas and we shall see here the wind takes me. I am still going through all your shows so I can learn more before I begin in 5 days. I am so excited!! Keep up the amazing and VERY helpful videos. I love it!!

Kathi Boresh you may like a fiberglass rv - they need less maintenance and hold value better than traditional RV - are really lightweight - many around 2000 pounds and easy to tow. There is a forum at Fiberglass RV to see pics and ask questions. Good luck !

We just bought a 30' pull behind. Since we are new to this and want it to be a great way to vacation as a family, (we have 3 boys), we searched through KZfaq to educate ourselves. I found your videos to be the most useful. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos as we educate ourselves on owning a camping trailer. We took it out for our first camping trip and had a great time. This video and your video of getting a flat tire your first day out proved most helpful and prevented a near disaster. On the last day of our trip, I noticed one of the truck tires was low. Because I had watched the video where you talked about tire pressure, I included a compressor. I filled up the tire to see if it could hold air long enough to get us home. It couldn't. I looked for the tire iron in the truck and it didn't have one. Fortunately, because you mentioned in this video to include a tire iron, I had one in the trailer. Also, the spare was very low in pressure needing to be inflated. Had I not watched your entertaining and educational videos, I am sure I wouldn't have included a tire iron and the compressor and we may still be stranded in the mountains. Thank you.

My husband and I have been watching your videos since day 1 of your RV adventure! You guys are pretty much our favorite KZfaqrs! Your videos are so well put together. My husband, myself and our 14 year old son have been "Weekend Warrior" campers for about 5 years now. When you guys talked about "communication" we looked at each other and laughed! We can relate! He always gets mad when I tell him through the radio that the tires are "perfectly centered" on the levelling blocks and he has to get out of the truck to come check and they're not! (I think they' are!) Lol! We always laugh about that. Not to mention trying to hook up and my horrible backing up skills! So many stories! Keep up the amazing videos! We love them!

We discovered your KZfaq channel over this past winter and absolutely love it. Every night after work we go camping watching your show. It has gotten us through the long winter days. :) We have recently traded in our hybrid trailer for a bigger travel trailer with pop outs and will be able to bring it home this week. We are so excited about that & for camping season to start. I can’t wait to organize & stock up our new rig. We used to camp years ago. We started with a tent and went to a tent trailer then travel trailer. Did that for years but then gave it up and stopped camping altogether. We missed it and started back 2 years ago and we are glad we did. You are right.....just start somewhere! That’s how we have always done it. Start with a tent then move up to something bigger if that’s what you’d like to do. Just start! Keep on doing what you are doing. We love watching all your adventures and hearing your great tips. Hope to meet you guys some day! :)

Finally moving in to our Fifth Wheel {which has been buried in snow until last week). Brand new at this, so we so much appreciate you guys for putting up these instructional videos especially for us Newbies. I have been following you for months and felt like I knew what I was doing --- until it actually came time to turn on the power, the water, the propane, the water heater, the furnace, the air conditioner, the fridge, clean and sanitize the tanks, etc, etc. I am only half way through that list and am totally terrified, though all has gone well (but slowly) so far. Now I love you guys even more!! Thanks for all you do and making it so fun to watch over the 6 months since we bought (and stored for the winter) our Fifth Wheel.... Just an addition to the grey water discussion. The tub and dump method is an awesome saver, except in bear country it's a big no no! Bears and cougars are attracted to the smell of soapy water just as they are food waste. It was in all our literature from Banff National Park when we stayed there. Some people aren't used to bear country so just wanted to share this little tip for anyone new to those areas. I had no idea until they gave us the info and I have been in bear country many times. :) This channel is AMAZING!

My wife and I are not new at camping but we are new at RVing. Our first boondocking experience was a total disaster. SHE washed here hair like if she was staying at a Hilton. We were out of fresh water in less then 48 hours :-( But I was able to borrow a dump tote and we were back in business in no time. I now own my own. Its 3 months later and it seems that we are starting to get the hang of this. Thanks to your videos, we now seem to be keeping one step ahead of any disasters. Question, at what point will we no longer be considered a newbie. LOL.... Thank for sharing your experiences....
@KeepYourDaydream

Lol. Hilton. Love it. Regarding the newbie... I don't know. I figure 25k miles over 11 months is equivalent to six years RVing if the average RVer took a 4 trip once per month (which they probably don't) and yet I'm still learning and still making mistakes. As I said in previous episodes, I don't make the same mistake twice. I make it 7 or 8 times!

Keep Your Daydream : Your comment about making mistakes is 100% correct. I grew up making things and I remember being so excited when I was sewing a new blouse or outfit. Mistakes pile up when you are tired. After ripping out a sleeve sewn in backwards it is easy to make another mistake that you have to rip out. Being tired is a sure way to compound an error. I have been in the RV business for 25 years as a Certified tech I have seen the dealers that I have worked for. do a lot of shady work If you are about to spend your extra money on a Rv before you buy. find a RV Certified Teck and take them with you I can spot problems where the buyer would never see for 100.00 bucks could save you a head ach ,or getting a lemon. Water is the worst thing for a RV If your in the market for a used RV here are 2 tips I as a tech I can give you If it smells musty walk away or the side is delamb because black mold gets behind the wall and you will never see it but a good tech will see it Second Ask the dealer if you can contact the previse owner to see why they traded it in if they wont Walk away because there probably some thing there hiding and ask the dealer how many RV Certified techs in there service Dept

I found your videos about a week ago and I've been obsessed ever since. It's your amazing personalities, how you include the kids, AND how your always teaching us something about each place you visit! AWESOME . Matter of fact, you're the very first RVers that I actually subscribed to ! That's HUGE ! We are planning as soon as our Lord gives us the green light and we'll hit the road in a toy hauler and take our business on the road. And I secretly pray we can be as much fun as all of you are :-) Blessings for Safe Travels

Thanks Joe Dee. Welcome to our channel. Love the comment. I'm sure you'll have a blast. Keep in mind, our videos are the highlights of ENTIRE week... but even the "ordinary days" are fun too. My advice - go slow, go with the flow, be open to no plans and see what you find sometimes. Find the easy things that make it fun your kids. We think food has a lot to do with how well families like a location. :)
