A quick tip. We have tried several methods over the years after finding a squirrel family living in our outdoor kitchen in a former trailer. One of the methods we have used is the ultrasonic devices similar to what is featured in the video. We started to notice our dog behaving erratically, full of stress, pacing around, whining etc. Unplugged the anti rodent device and he was fixed. So fellow dog owners might want to be careful with this particular solution. Cheers Unhappily stuck in Ontario, can't go South, can't go East

The dryer sheets always seemed to work to keep mice out of the trunk of my elderly cars, but a few years back a mouse made a nest in the dryer sheets. Black pepper has worked for me in the past with ant problems. I try to have no real poisons around as we have 2 and 4 legged pets. I wish you the best Tara with your health and that things get better for you. Stay safe and well.

Thank you for the tips! In one of our older travel trailer, a mother mouse climbed up the electric cord of the rv and gave birth to her babies under the bed. We had mouse traps going off every night...nightmare.

I can't say I'm a fan of lights under the rig, but I'm not everyone. That may change when I get on the road in a few months, we'll see. One of the things that I think helps full timers is the fact that you move quite a bit. It takes animals a while to get used to something new and by the time they're getting comfortable with your rig being there it moves. I have had luck with dryer sheets. I've put them on my bike over the winter and in a car I had stored for 22 months. Never a mouse anywhere and I live in the country and get them in my house even though I have a cat. No problem with the shorter videos, there's probably a 30 to 1 ratio for recording and editing time for every minute of video time. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

We use copper wool for the larger gaps going in and ortho home defense spray. Both worked on our home and so far in our first year we haven't had any bugs inside. We also put tomcat mouse bait station under our rv by the tires so the mice will find the food source outside and die so we don't end up with any rodents inside the rv. Our brick and mortar home had a huge mouse and bug problem when we bought it and used a pest company to fix it and understand how to do it ourself. We took those methods and applied them to the rv. You guys are awesome. Since my wife got cancer and we can't tent camp we looked into rv trailers. I came across your KZfaq channel and my wife thought I had been RVing for years when we would talk to the dealer or go out with it. Thank you for being here and sharing. It has made a difference in our lives to confidently go on vacation with our three dogs and enjoy life again.

Awesome video, like always!! We use a combination of things that have worked well for us. We never leave any food of any kinda in the TT when not in use. Also, I’m a clean freak. Sealing the gaps is a big deterrent for the critters. Our TT is parked in what use to be a field of whatever crop was planted that year, this is our 4th year parking there. Knock on wood no critters have use our TT as a home. 🤞🏻it stays that way.

I picked up a can of great stuff at Wally World during a grocery run many years ago. When we took the bags out of the trunk the Great Stuff must have rolled out of the grocery bag and it got forgotten. I live in Florida. In the summer it gets hot. It was about 105 degrees one day and the car was parked in the full sun at work. This car was just bought new recently (only 6 months old, less than 7000 miles on it). The Stuff exploded with such force that it sounded like a bomb going off. It blew a 1 foot diameter hole through the back seat and coated every square inch of the interior with Stuff which quickly hardened in the hot sun. It was driven immediately to a car detail shop but they could not get any of it off. It was on all the windows (including the front and back windshield) so much you could barely see out of them. It was on every inch of fabric from the seats to the floor to the carpet. The entire dashboard was covered. The insurance company said the car was totaled. I then had to buy my own car from the insurance company for like $650. On the outside it looked brand new and ran like new. The inside was crazy trashed. Someone was willing to buy it for about $3000 (it was a brand new $18000 car after all) which was enough to cover the gap in coverage.

We’ve been RVing for >30 years and have used the electric plug in gizmos for pest control both on the road and when RV is in storage. Also whenever the levelers go down we sprinkle Comet (big shaker from a $ store) around anything that touches the ground. Haven’t ever had a pest problem anywhere across this great country. 🇺🇸

On a lot of older RV's the power cord was hard wired in and you just pulled one end out of a hole, and plugged it it. Anything walking on the wire, walks right it. Install a bulkhead type setup, so you are plugging in at both ends and its a sealed system. Those pot scrubber, stainless steel things.... if you stick part of one in the big gaps, before the spray foam, they can't eat their way through it. Stay safe!

Theres a video on youtube of a guy who did an experiment with the top choices. It literally show the mice eating the Irish Spring. The peppermint worked to keep the mice away from the bait.

To stop rodents from entering, you first need to deny them access to anything that gets them up to the chassis. They will climb tires, and jacks to get up. I have had good luck with mothballs on top of tires and around the base of the jacks, but they will climb right over mothballs if they are in the way. It is the smell that keeps them away. My house gets mice all the time due to being out in farmland, and I am constantly chasing little openings. One day I watched one of the little buggers walking the foundation, and leaped over the mothball bag. If the mothballs are surrounding the pads, and on top of tires, the aroma will keep them from going up the tires, and they don't like to stand on them. If they can leap over them, they will. Placing them inside will do nothing though, once inside, only traps will take care of them. Seal all openings, larger ones with steel or brass wool, then foam. They will chew through foam, but not steel wool. Irish Spring and dryer sheets are great for keeping the trailer smelling good, but wont deter mice. When I put the trailer in storage I make sure there is no way for them to get up, so never had a pest problem. One year after taking it out of storage and getting it all set up for traveling, one got in. The trailer had the power cord inside so you pulled it out to plug in, and well, the cord was on the ground, and the little bugger climbed it and got in through the outlet cover. Always remove bedding, clothing or anything they can use to nest with and remove all foodstuffs. If they can't smell it, they won't go near it.

"Raid MAX bug barrier" is pretty good to use on the outside. I sprayed all exterior windows/doorframes and storage doors/bottom holes/roof entrance areas and have had zero issues. Doesn't eat paint or rubber. Will last a few months even with weather. Id re-apply if you power wash the RV but other than that its pretty cheap and easy to apply.

Great tips for pest control. Must try some of those! We recently boonedocked in the Daniel Boone National Forest for five nights. On the second day, I started noticing little mouse droppings. We made a run to the nearest country store and all we could find was a pack of sticky traps. The next morning we caught three little field mice and thank goodness no more evidence for the remainder of the trip.

I use steel wool in all my openings. Works great. I don't suggest putting steel wool where the water hose comes in. It will get wet and rust, then you have a problem getting the steel wool out. Never even thought about that when I put it in the opening. Because the hole is lined with aluminum, it definitely stuck. LOL. Great advice, have a happy Labor Day.

The rodents in our DP LOVED the Irish Springs soap! I found not just food, crumbs and dog food bring in the rodents, but they would get into the Kleenex, paper towels, paper napkins and toilet paper to make nests. After I took ALL of that out they started pulling the fibers out of the dish towels to make their nest! They have never gotten in the bath towels (yet). We just put in some cotton balls with peppermint oil but I figure they will use those to make nests, too!

Thanks for the great video as always! Thankfully we haven’t had pest problems with our current rig but my biggest tip is keep hoses and lines off the ground as much as possible (they’re a perfect highway for ants)! I use a couple bungee cords to coil and hang the power cable and water hose (usually from the slide-out) so they can’t even touch the ground! I tried the Irish Spring soap... it made the interior and basement smell nice and fresh... until our stupid dog decided to eat it! She only got mildly sick but doesn’t seem to be any dumber than before!🤦🏻‍♂️

My husband and I love watching your channel, we are what you might call silent fans. Anyway after hearing your segment on pest control we decided to comment on our experience. We ended up with Bedbugs and a few mice in our condo. I thought bedbugs were a childhood saying (Good night, don't let the bedbugs bite) I didn't know they were real. Anyway the husband bought a few home from his job and they attacked me nightly. Talk about the worse things ever to try to get rid of. Long story short, we have a dog and cat and we had to be careful on how we killed these pest. Amazingly the Electric Plug-ins did the job. Alone with putting steel wool in the mice's point of entry. Bedbugs I read can live over a year without eating, so that is just how long I left it plugged in to an electric cord on the floor next to my bed. After a week I noticed I wasn't being attacked anymore and about a year later I'm still good. We need to change them out again though. The little lights inside of them are starting to dim. But the statement as to whether the Electronic plug-ins work or not, our answer is YES we think they work great. Just make sure to take care of the issue as soon as possible. Thanks for the Pest Control information, Michelle and Jim.

Great Video Chad and Tara. We had our RV in the shop getting some things done and when we got it back we found LOTS of mouse droppings everywhere in the RV. I put out some of those sticky mats, but found nothing in them except a couple spiders or flies. We had some of those Downy dryer sheets, which seemed to work in those areas, but the little buggers even got into our silverware trays and left some of their pellet calling cards for us to clean up. I watched a KZfaq video on the electronic pest sonic devices (search for "Do Electronic Pest Repellers Work?") Also I wonder about your modified devices; if you cover them in tape, I wonder if that actually diminishes or even blocks the sonic output. If you have a decibel meter you could test that output with and without the tape. At any rate, these videos are very helpful and much appreciated. Stay Safe!

I have used Fresh Cab from Tractor Supply for a while now in the camper, a boat and an antique truck and it's always worked well, but it's expensive. I looked into the ingredients and found I could make my own for pennies. Ground walnut shells from Amazon and Balsam Pine essential oil also from Amazon and small burlap trinket bags again from Amazon. I mix up a bunch and keep it in an airtight container. The walnut shells go into the trinket bags and they go into the places the mice love. I also use the sonic mouse repelers. So far they've worked very well in all three places.

Like you said about the ultra sonic plug ins. Our stick and bricks is backed up to a huge field that they shred about 1-2 times a year and our neighbors always has mice but we havent even seen 1 in the whole 8 years living here. All we use is the unltasonic plug in items and spread them around the house.

A coincidence that this just posted! We’re heading south in the fall, have sold our home and need to find where to go in retirement. I was just searching for pest control for the RV, since I remember the Carolina palmetto bugs and Georgia’s red ants... No snow season means more bugs!I

Thank you for videos! I cut up Irish Spring and put on the batteries of my golf cart and in my 5th wheel and keeps rats out. I used cotton balls soaked in peppermint under the hood of my truck, but didn’t keep rats out. I’m now using cut up Irish Spring but have to take out when I drive it since I haven’t figured out how to attach it.. It’s working so far. I live in a rural area and use truck and trailer about 8 out of 12 months so when I don’t use truck much during off time, rodents have plenty of time to set up house.

I'm a transplant from Oh. We live in Fl full time, now going on 30 yrs. Truly, not a joke, palmetto bugs are not like the dirty roaches that live more North and eat you out of house and home. Yes, ours are big, and pretty much harmless. Once in a while one will sneak in around a threshold of an entry door, you kill that one and that's it. Remember too, many homes like ours have been made hurricane resistant and are tightly sealed everywhere which really blocks out any pests.

If any readers are reading this comment here is 100% accurate true like Chad and Tara advise. I purchase my RV back in 2013 a NRVTA inspector told me fill all gap with Pest Control Foam same can from this video and spray foot levers and electrical cord/water hose at ground level with insect spray same one from video. Now 2021 9yrs later, I never got any issues with pest/rotten and either with ants but got very few spiders that may find a way in from trees above. I also pick up all trash outside prior bed and have RV LED Markers Lights automatically turn on at sunset that turn off at sunrise DYI build while camping. Those marker lights also safe me multiple times from skunk passing by RV. Ohh I hate those. Cheers all.

Hi Daisy. Navy housing in P'Cola used moth balls under the house. I use a bug guard around the tires and landing gear. That seems to work too.

Our class A has a wet bay. I have learned to HATE wet bays. Oh, they are real convenient, one common compartment where your water & power & tv & dump hose all connect & stow HOWEVER, all wet bays have a hole in the floor to route your lines out to the utility pole through. These lines are a RODENT HIGHWAY. NEVER lay your lines along the ground where the critters can climb up into your wet bay. We stuff dryer sheets around the lines through the exit portal. As time goes by you will notice the sheets lose their smell. Change them often. No critter likes strong smells so anything with a strong smell will help deter them. Irish spring soap, bleach, ammonia, dryer sheets, ben gay. I like how travel trailers & campervans have all their hookups connecting to the outside of the rig with NO openings to the inside. Its on my to do list to do the same to my A. ALSO, when we return home, unload ALL edibles from the rig. Leave NOTHING inside to attract a critters. Well, bottled water is OK. !

DE is probably the best thing to put around your landing gear for ants and other exoskeleton type insects. It gets into the joints and basically paralyzes them. The ultrasonic repellants, I'm with you guys on them as well. I had a really bad pantry moth infestation due to some infested bird food I bought. I spent several years finally getting down to the point that I didn't have too many fluttering around my house. At the beginning of this year, I bought a two-pack of them and put one in my house hallway and put one in my kitchen, where I've had problems with sugar ants, and I've not seen an ant or moth in my house since I put them up. Just before I plugged them in, I did change the pheromone trap for the moths and caught two, but after I plugged in the repellers, nothing. Not 100% sure that is the reason, but I am not going to be taking them out anytime soon.
