PC hardware stagnationran that you can do some smart choices thought... You wonder if puting 290€ or 360€ hard to find gpu in your new full pc build around 1000€ budget. Gpus to expensive but nevessary to have one not only for gaming... If you already have a PC of 10 years or less, you can go max out de ram, add some cheap ssd, upgrade ypur old 1080p to 1440p or 4k and buy and used or new less than 600€ 3090/4070 or 450€ 6800 xt etc. Or a 120€ 5700xt... You'll have at least double the performance of deceptive new 60/70/600/700 cards for less of half the money you saved by not going with a new build... Cpu bottleneck at 1440p or 2160p it's hard to feel in any 9th gen or newer intel or Ryzen Zen 2...even pcie 3.0 x8 it's not as high limitation as people thing. Rx 6700 is good but it was launch as OEM only and only recent and limited stock... Used you may find in the 100 usd to 300 usd interesting cards almost as powerful or more mostly of tje AMD brand... But it depemds in Europe rx7600 and 4060ti are not as expensive as older cards stockpile is not discounted much over Origonal msrp at all... Don't forget rx 6000 were launched at higer msrp than nvidia 30 series...

Thats because Moore's law doesnt work anymore, so we need to find a different way of improving performance. NVIDIA bet on AI and technologies on it, like DLSS.

Also the rx 7600 is on 6nm(7nm++) and NOT on 5nm(or 4nm), while the 6700 is on 7nm+ thus they are on the same process node, but different itterations and on top of that bigger chips at lower clock speeds(the rx 6700) have much better performance/watt than smaller chips at insanely high clock speeds(rx 7600)

This whole gen is a skip, I'm getting AMDs last gen flagship because right now the prices are very good. Hoping it will last me a gen or two till another good deal shows up in the future.

The Rx 7600 has Rx 6650 XT clock speeds and therefore higher clock speeds than the Rx 6600 XT. Basically, the Rx 7600 is 5% faster than the 6600 XT due to higher clock speeds and another 5% due to the memory speed. That makes it 10% faster than the Rx 6600 XT.

@@JanM2 The RX 7600 is faster than the RX 6650 XT in general. Yes its like 5-7% it isnt much, but it is faster than even the 6650 XT. While using slightly less power. It also has slightly better bandwidth (288 vs 280 and same IC).

@@ForlebTF That is not true. You are measuring using AMD's tool. The actual Total Power Used is different. RDNA3 reports the VRAM power too. That is why it seems higher. In actual testing the 6650 XT is 170-185W and the RX 7600 is 165W (with some custom models being 175W).

Intel's current gen isn't there yet, if they keep the price/performance relative to AMD and Nvidia with Battlemage, then they might take the crown.

That is exactly how it has been for over 20+ years. If you want the best deals and price/performance you purchase all the good stuff from the last gen at a discounted price and then you never have to pay the bleeding edge new hardware adopter tax because you will be upgrading to that stuff when the next newest hardware launches. Let others pay for the launch bugs and price premium for you and let them test it out and work the bugs out for you at the same time as you are enjoying your bug free and stable tried and true platform for a little less not allot more money lol.

6000 series reported fake power consumption that is like 30% below real one. 7000 series reports true power consumption.

Bigger core, lower clocks, lower voltage, lower power. Power = squared (voltage) times Resistance

Software power usage is very inaccurate. That's why decent testers at least measure power consumption from the wall for total system under the same load.

I hate saying this as it's a knock on AMD and I like AMD, but software doesn't report the entire chips power draw on RDNA2 whereas it does on rdna3. I would add anywhere between 10w-30w on every power draw number when it's a software report for rDNA2 cards

it shows the whole power draw not just the gpu itself, it shows the vram power draw and a few more things so its not accurate on the direct power draw by itself:)

The 7600 is on 6nm(7nm++) while the 6700 is on 7nm(7nm+), so they are on pretty similar process nodes. If the 7600 was on 4nm(5nm++) or 5nm then it would have consumed a lot less power.

GDDR6 until mid May 2023 was limited to 2GB per chip. Each GDDR6 chip takes 32 bit of the memory bus, meaning that a 128 bit bus card can have 4 chips running at 32 bit mode. 4 times 2 = 8 GB for a 128 bit card. Since Mid May we've had 4GB chips at 32 bit. If you put more than 4x chips on a 128 bit card, they have to run at half bit-rate, which is 16 bit and you cut the bandwidth in half like the RTX A4000 ADA, which has 10x chips instead of 5x chips on 160 bit bus and the bandwidth is halved.

AMD used to have only 128/256 bit option rx 470 4/8GB, 570 4/8GB 256 bit rx 460, 560 128 bit True name for 128 bit bus card is 7500. 7600 should have at least 192 bit bus and 12GB. The RX 7600 uses 6nm(7nm++), not 4nm(5nm++)/5nm, that's why the power consumption is as high as it is. The RX 7900XT/X use both 5nm and 6nm and NOT 4nm, which why they also have higher power consumption than if they used 4nm and having a "chiplet"(modular) design also increases power consumption.

With 3GB chips a 128 bit card can have 12GB of VRAM at full bandwidth, a 192 bit card can have 18GB at full bandwidth and a 256 bit card can have 24GB at full bandwidth. 4GB Chips are overkill.

One component heats up the other. Also it's entirely cooler dependent. The rx 7600 cards usually have a worse cooler than rx 6700 cards.

The 6700 was $261 on Amazon 2 weeks ago. 6700XT was $360. I went for the 6700 and spent the difference on a 2TB DRAM TLC NVMe drive for $80. 6700 is beastly enough for me especially for the price. I never buy front row seats opting instead to buy a few rows back. $250 is about all I'll spend on a video card so went with the 6700 over the 7600 because more vram.
