@@doomdimensiondweller5627 How? It absolutely raped the GTX 1080ti in ray tracing and the GTX 1080 in everything else, for 400 bucks. In fact, it raped the 1080ti in ray tracing SO HARD Nvidia had to make raytracing proprietary and exclusive to RTX 2000 to even barely compete. I had to wait until 2023 before i found a gpu that delivered the same performance for half the price (rx 6600)

@@milesfarberbecause Ray tracing was a relevant question that anyone was asking back in 2017? 2080 RT was still barely usable in games when it came out, and it was leagues ahead of any traditional ray compute ray tracing before it. Vega was what AMD had to offer, but it was not exactly impressive for gaming at the time. GCN based architecture was already long in the tooth and AMD was relying on optimizations and then a node shrink, while focusing on developing RDNA.

@@wyattroncin941 Radeon ProRender could do real time ray tracing on a Vega 64 before Nvidia censored it and made it proprietary. I’ve been using this card in Blender for 7 years and i have no plans on replacing it until it dies. You have no idea because you weren’t there when it came out.

navi should be super good. all amd has to do is use infinity fabric to tie gpu's together to get them to scale together and act as 1 just like they do with ryzen. if they tie 2 gpu's together, it would blow the doors off anything that nvidia has. they could literally drop a vega edition right now with infinity fabric and it would wipe the floor off anything from nvidia

thor odin considering the thermal output and power consumption, it will be less likely, since they would throttle without some serious cooling and power supply and honestly that concept is pretty similar to titan Z

Zacronzer Zetto not true at all. I have a thread Ripper (go look on my channel, I have plenty of videos on it) and it is using infinity fabric. At full load on cinnebench my max temp is like 60c. It's actually cooler than my 1800x. My 1800x is liquid cooled (corsair h60, is 120 and has 2 fans with push pull connected to it and my thread Ripper 240 liquid cooler.) and it runs cooler. Granted bigger radiator but the 240 is not push pull, it's just push out the case. So with 2 cpus in one socket it runs damned cool! I also have my thread Ripper stables over locked to 4.15 ghz and at full load 60c!! Further it runs cooler than intels x299 series chips. Intels 16/18 core chips has a higher tdp at throttle. And those are single monolith chips. So that being said, pretty sure amd could do something similar with navi

I guess. I could say the same thing for a bunch of stuff in Europe. Like cars. It is actually cheaper for me to buy an original mini cooper from Europe and have it shipped to the US than to buy them outright here. But i don't think it would be worth it to fly here to buy a ~$500 item. Not to mention a bunch of countries make you pay a tax/tariff on goods brought into the country when you go through customs.

Only whilst *gaming.* In idle mode even the most wastefull card like a GTX 690 that easily consumes 300W when playing will only suck up 20W whilst in idle modus/everday desktop applications that even include streaming. Inform yourself in future freaking fanboy.

because power causes heat. thats how conservation of energy works. if you put power into something its converted into another form of energy(like heat). and heat causes sound. assuming you actually want to cool your card.

And the launch driver NEVER is the good one for AMD. We will probably see again a replication of what happened with Fury X and 980Ti (stock one). Now, Fury X has reached 1070 at 4K where back then it was behind the stock 980Ti.

The real story for me in all honesty is not about either AMD or Nvidia hardware it's about the state of games in general. If you look down a list of popular games the framerates are all over the place, sure some do well on Nvidia some do well on AMD but many just absolutely SUCK on both! not getting anywhere near 100Hz at 1440p. I don't mind spending $600 on a graphics card but I do mind spending $500+ on a 144Hz moniter when only a handful of games even come close to that framerate. I'm sure many money grabbing lazy developers love the fact that the community spends its time arguing over hardware that is essentially the same when infact the biggest thing holding back gaming is bad developers!

I'll admit, I used some of the powerful video card I ALL READY OWN to do a bit of cryptocurrency mining when I'm not gaming on my computers, but OH MY GOD. I am getting so fucking pissed off about the miners buying up all the fucking video cards! EDIT: To some responses to this comment. The Bitcoin is currently worth $4388 USD per unit as I am currently writing this. However, with my GTX1080 I have, even overclocked, I only make a max of about $2.50 PER DAY (full 24 hours) with the amount of bitcoin I mine (somewhere around 0.0005 BTC/Day, and no, I'm not mining Bitcoin directly, I'm mining Altcoins that are efficient and converting them to Bitcoin). Then I make another 50 to 70 cents from the 970 I have in a mITX PC I built a while back. All in all, after a few weeks, I've made around $60. Given how small that really is, considering I have a job, and that it's impossible to play video games while my PC is mining, yea, I have no problem turning my miner off for a few hours to play video games.

Just picked up one for my buddy. Vega 56 Red Dragon. It came with the Samsung memory so we flashed the Bios to Vega 64, undervolted, gave it more power and finally OC'd it. We got that baby to stay at 1650mhz and perform only 9% worse than the stock RTX 2070.

@@lussor1 HBM2 memory is Manafactured by either Samsung or Hynix. If you get the Samsung made memory, you can flash the GPU BIOS and bascially make the card a Vega 64.

thank you for this video. I am on the fence with the 56 and the gtx 1070ti. even though its more expensive, i am considering the vega 56 because i have a wonderful 75 hz ultrawide 1080 p monitor. I want flawless 1080 p performance and i think this will deliver that for years to come. Will it?????

they can run any game at 4k, but imo they are made for 1440p and 1080p, maybe 4k but thats if you want to sacrifice some FPS, if i was you i would wait for another generations of cards if you'r looking for 4k gaming in 2017+ (just my opinion)

I know the feeling. I bought a freesync monitor a month ago but solely for the 144hz/1440p. Freesync didn't even factor into my decision. I would have liked to have paired it with a Vega but neither the 56 or 64 can give me the frames I want. I don't believe in the "FEELZ BEFORE REALZ" freesync arguement and the 1080ti is objectively better so I got one second hand.

Actually - The RX Vega lineup does have a secondary use! It can act as a room heater. In sweden, it's pretty cold in houses! I'll go get myself a liquid "cooled" 64 and heat up my room! Probably also an efficient heater, compared to other options :)

Also worth noting that the power consumption can be reigned in a bit on Vega 56 and 64 by setting it to balanced or power saver mode. This cuts power consumption by ~40-100W for only a few fps loss. Check AdoredTV's video on it, he tested it and the results are cool :)

So, I bought these two Vegas and I thought that JUST MAYBE my 850w Corsair PSU would handle it, but it didn't. Now if any of you do have a Dual RX Vega spec, could you please answer me: how much power do I actually need? And since they are not liquid cooled, are they going to heat up?

Makes sense, really. The net effect of this will be the forcing of prosumer and low end professional markets into the "industrial" market of Quadros, etc. where they previously used Ti and Titan models. Intel did the same thing until recently.

It's not even clear there's a savings to be had. The MSRP of Vega 56 is $400 while 1070s were selling as low as ~$330 before the mining boom, with ~$360 being somewhat common. If Vega 56 holds at $400 and the product is actually available there is a case to be made but if the price shoots up and/or there is nothing to be had until 2018 then AMD has basically abdicated two hardware generations, starting from the non-answer to the 980 Ti, which they still struggle against even with this new product lineup.

Hi Linus, Please do a comparison benchmark with the gefroce 1080 Ti and XP cards also in cinebench and most importantly in blender cycles. The rx vega seems to smash the 1070 and 1080 in these disciplines and I and I suppose a lot of others want to know how good are they really against the higher end cards. Thanks Akos

I'm still waiting for the GTXZ 9090ti Turbo Pro Plus Extreme G1 Gaming X Classified STRIX Hyper Amped Superclocked Hall of Fame FTW9 Overclocked Edition. My future source is legit. He says it can play Crysis 3 at 128k 420hz. Apparently there is a G.O.A.T Edition now, as well. So wait for that one.

Hi good to see its working for many but for mine rig its not i have 4 vega 56 and out of 4 it works only on 1 vega which gives around 1810-1830 Hsh and maintian temp of 65-72 celc but remaining 3 get heated 84-85 Celc and low down their Hsh speed around 1200-1400 which is low as compare 1800+ can you suggest me any tweak which can maintain all temperature cool like my 1st vega. Thanks
