Latvians can be so fun 😁 really great match! even if it didn't have long drawn out wars. that technical battle in the setup was quite interesting, very subtle moves there! Ryan, awesome job man!

Tbf, he has had wins at Arm Wars and in State-level USA matches, so he has had success in NA & EU too, but not at any level above Lachy or much of the top level guys in lower weight classes that you would see winning WAF Worlds or pulling at EvW with any regularity

We give competitors 20 seconds to find their own grip. If both guys say they're happy, then we just say go. I reffed the AWE tournament prior to this match and using this method made such a difference both in time wise and competitor satisfaction. Plus if both guys say they're happy with the set up, it's hard to argue afterwards that you got screwed because the competitor literally said they were happy and ready to start. Funnily enough we ran several hundred matches and had literally zero foul outs which was kind of cool to see.

Bowen won the match before it started, all set up. Guntars literally got played by Bowen, didn’t even get to utilize his back pressure. Bowen has such good table IQ, but it’s really basic things technically he does, which actually makes it even more impressive.

Todd had the Intercontinental belt but relinquished it when he signed with East Vs West exclusively. It then was in the line between myself and Mazahir. Should I lose the belt at any stage to an international Lachlan will be the next man in to challenge for it. The Heavyweight Belt is focused on Australian overalls. This was Guntars 3rd defence of it. Lachlan has an open invitation to challenge for it if he chooses.

Guntars was the national champion here for many years in a row and as the sport is still developing in Australia, he seemed unbeatable. As Ryan says in the his post match interview that he saw Guntars as a level he didn't think was possible to get to. So it was a very big match for Ryan to face someone he'd idolised in the sport for many years.

First HW championship match was between Guntars and Mario Tambakis at AWE 1. Guntars won that match and then defended his belt against Marcus Atirai at AWE 2. We also have an Intercontinental Belt which Ryan also holds - Matt
