Ryan Sheckler: Traumatized by MTV producers

Skateboarding and reality TV star Ryan Sheckler talks of living out his life in front of TV cameras for MTV’s “Life of Ryan,” including painful, forced breakups and learning of his parents’ divorce. Sheckler says the experience was so traumatizing that he refused to date for years after the show ended, but he learned a lot from it.

Ryan's one of the most "judged" dudes in skating history. But honestly, he's a pretty decent guy. And most ppl wouldn't have handled the intense pressure of the spotlight as well as he did, especially at such a young age. Wish him all the best.

Sadly I'm not surprised to hear this. Sheckler was like 17, maybe 18 when the first season was filmed and they really pushed the relationship trouble aspect of the show. I don't think he really knew what he was getting into with the reality show stuff, sucks for him so I hope he got paid well for it at least

Jeez MTV really shitty look on your part. What a horrible thing to do to a young kid. I can’t imagine the trauma that goes on in his brain. Respect to him 100%. I need to find the power he has and convert it into good energy.

I don’t know why everyone making fun of him. Far as I know he still has his career and everything. He’s always been one of the best skaters to really blow up it ain’t like he broke. Dude makes $12 million and he also helps people which is why he started the Sheckler Foundation. This man has a good heart and he has it in the right place. He's a real person, a true genuine human being who really cares for others wanting to give back helping them make a difference. Those making fun of him are straight up haters for real. At least he ain't obnoxious like Nyjah Huston many are so in love with knowing guy's a real douche. People should just leave Ryan alone.

Ryan Sheckler is one of the few who saw such heights as a kid without the massive nose dive that follows. He was a massive star with the world at his fingertips at one point back when skateboarding was at its peak. I'm glad to see he's doing well and that he's learned a lot from those experiences. Dane Cook is a guy I hated back in his prime but the guy he is now and some of his stories are fantastic once he's grown as well.

I turn 23 in November and honestly Ryan was my favorite skateboarder since I was like 8 or 9 so basically when I started skateboarding! My first skatevideo I ever saw back then was Rodney Mullen then Sheckler and both of them inspired me for life

The reason why I, and probably a lot of other girls my age, liked Ryan was because it was obvious he had a heart. It's nice to see that part wasn't fake, but sucky that he had to deal with all of that.

I remember watching the show and having a crush on Ryan. His big heart shone through even then, I remember seeing a clip of how sweet he was when his little brother hurt himself skating and he went to comfort him and said ‘you’re still cute though!’ Where I’m from, siblings we’re not supportive! Lol you literally bullied your bro or sis so seeing his behaviour really left an imprint on me about who he is as a person. I see the comments he leaves on his girlfriends IG now and it’s heartwarming to see he’s the same genuine, caring guy. She’s lucky to have him. Good luck to him, hope he’s over his trauma and wish him all the best in life.

This guy has matured SO much. He has a ton of wisdom, and has learned many lessons. A lot of people have talent, but many unfortunately do not realize their full potential, it's sad. Money, fame, drugs, sex, booze....prime years virtually wasted.....you become more of who the world wants you to be and less of who God created you to be....#CHRISTFIRST....#IAMSECOND

Mtv was fun they played music. When they started to do reality is went downhill. They used him and the cast of the hills , laguna beach and other to sell. It is was in my opinion the first startup in the world with the worse carreer perspective.

I definitely didn't like him when I was younger we are around the same age I'm l 2 years older, I was definitely jealous and I felt like he had everything while I was living in a trailer with nothing but hearing his stories definitely and stuff that he went through, shows A New perspective and respect that I have for him.

I remember MTV in their glory days.....with real music videos. Flash Fwd to Seattle, MTV is filming.... I'm in a bar and the cast/crew waltz in. The bar is dead, so they have the run of the place. I can hear and see everything.....the production, how it's all done. And the whole thing was.....CHOREOGRAPHED. It was all an act....including producers w/ headsets on going....."No, we need more drama. When she tells you that she cheated on you, slam the table hard!" Etc. REALLY. That was many years ago, and guess what?- haven't liked their brand ever since.
