On-board FR1203 from Palma De Mallorca to London Stansted, UK on Tuesday 22nd March 2016. PLEASE READ:
An unexpected 4 days adventure on the Balearic island on Palma due to French ATC Strikes. This trip was only planned for one night, originally departing on Sunday 19th March.
However that afternoon (while sightseeing in Palma) we received an email from Ryanair saying our flight had been cancelled! This was the first flight cancellation in my entire life, and with a party of 8 people, I felt partly responsible as I was in charge of the booking! Anyway after a lengthy phone conversation we was put on the first available flight, FR1203 2 days from the original departure time.
Even though the flight was fully booked, with 189 passengers, we managed to grab row 7 during check in. A fantastic engine view which meant I was able to film!
Once boarded we quickly pushed back on schedule, on a cloudy morning in Palma. Once airborne we quickly left the Balearic islands, heading North towards Barcelona, Toulouse & Caen before crossing the Isle of Wight into UK Airspace. Had a fantastic view of London Heathrow while descending towards London, incredible!
We landed into London Stansted around 13:05GMT - only 40 hours late!
I know Ryanair are not responsibly for situations like this so I can only blame the French for their constant striking! Since filming this flight they have had several more strikes. Not impressed, but spending 2 extra days in Spain is always a bonus!
