This is hilarious! I hadn’t finished this video when I was on your dupe stream earlier. But I commented in that stream that on my very first villager hunt ever, I got villager number 85 for the very first TWO islands, and I was legit worried I was villager hunting the wrong way 😂

If you’re getting repeat villagers, you can reset the villager rotation by going to format settings and reseting your cache and keyboard then restating your switch! You’ll get completely different villagers (:

someone please correct me if i'm wrong here but i think the reason you kept running into meringue is because the rhinos have a higher chance of being on your mystery island since there's less of them. i know it sounds confusing but basically the species that are technically the "rarest" (the ones with less villagers) are more likely to spawn on a mystery island. since there are only three octopuses, they are more likely to show up, and since there are many cat villagers they don't show up often. im guessing this is why meringue kept showing up.

So since you did the villager hunt 8 month ago, there were no new villagers in the game yet so the odds to find Merengue on one island are 1/397 if I trust one article I found on that topic. You used 83 tickets at that exact moment so this is how often you repeated that test with the same possibility. You ran into her 5 times according to your followers. I am using a formula that is called Bernoulli-Chain (literally translated, idk how its called in english) to recreate the experiment. Probability of "success"/running into Merengue in one visit: p=1/397 How often you visited islands: n=83 How often you succeded: k=5 P(X=k)= (n over k) * p^k * (1-p)^n-k I typed it into my calculator so you don't have to and the possibility is about 2,418*10^-6 which is 0.000002418%. Yes. I did a 30 min research on my a-level math content from over 2 years ago to answer a question probably nobody cares about. You're welcome my friend, it wad a pleasure 🤣
