Yeah this for me is easily the best song in the game. And the spectacle of the fight if you don’t cheese it is unmatched. The storming of flaming skulls…Rykard looming in the back raising his sword and sucking up all the fire and brimstone in a swirling storm around the sword before smashing it into the arena…the pillars of sinew and bones bursting and collapsing as the skulls hunt you down and smash them…it was insane .

It's up there with Gherman's song because they both make me actually cry in the fight

@@kaidothedrunkard Satan was represented, possibly even literally, a snake in the Old Testament. Mogh is just Mogh, while Rykard is a clear nod to the Bible.

@@kaidothedrunkard that Rykard is a representation of Satan doesn't mean that we can't have 2. Mogh being more like Lucifer, a fallen angel (wings given to him by the formeless mother) that waits for his moment to take the world under his dynasty.

Gimmick fights are meant to be memorable because they play against the basic fundamentals of the game, but they're risky to pull off successfully and need a lot of thought behind their design, or else they might end up being the worst bosses of the game. See Rykard vs bed of chaos.

No, but he seems programmed to sync up with it. A lot of people, myself included, saw him activate that attack trigger on the crescendo, but I think staggering him before that resets the timer for the attack.

@@itol2201 I can confirm that at a certain point in the fight (when the sky above becomes really vibrant, if you watch closely you can see souls come off his blade when he scrapes it across the ground, then they get added into the sky.) he is scripted to perform the skull rain attack, and then afterwards he does Taker's flames. The reason I can confirm this is because I stunned him while he was preparing the attack and he tried doing it again, I stunned him again and he tried again, over and over til we both simultaneously killed eachother

​​​@@MothDaxProbably. Wasn't too sure why it happened, and I would have preferred if I took him down in a way that was fair for him (if that makes any sense...), but he devoured me around 8-10 times before that stunlock-a-thon happened. Took that win and ran with it lol.

@@TheHikariOne i get what you mean, i had him stunlocked because he kept trying to do his rancor rain attack and I'd just keep stunning him I did get a pretty badass end though, we ended up killing eachother

TRUE! I was able to beat him on my very first try as well since I was already way too over leveled for the fight, as I was 230 with the fight. Definitely one of my favorite fights in the game and the 2nd phase is pretty incredible, as I'm a sucker for this kind of music in games

It's implied that the hands on the serpent are all the Recusants that have been offered up to Rykard. If the player were to be devoured by Rykard, we'd most likely join all those little arms on his body.
