We currently have 10 of the Shehds 19x15 and we ended up snagging 2 275W 10Rs as well. The 19x15s have been nothing short of perfect for our smaller auditorium. We have 6 for key lights (using the white mix + a light touch of darker orange with the saturation pulled back for a 5000k-5200k look) and 4 as wash lights. They're fantastic for the price and, if one of them breaks, they're cheap to replace.
@chrisgazpacho9 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! I’ve been debating on if these would work well as a key light. I was looking at their led 200w par zoom to replace our par key lights but I like the idea of moving head and never needing a ladder again! Lol

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I have had 4 of the Sheds RBGW and 2 of the Boulder variable white for two years. Currently they are used in a mobile church and get setup and torn down every week. Still performing flawlessly on all fronts. Thank you for accurately listing out the challenges and downsides! No, these are not the 'quality' of a Chauvet R2 Wash. Quality control is significantly lower, they use slightly cheaper LEDs, the main board is designed for faster, easier production, so the LEDs are aligned differently, causing slight color differences when mixing colors. There is a reason they are cheaper. With that understanding, these lights are phenomenal for creating a worship atmosphere. Think of them as the modern equivalent of stained glass windows. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the video. The Boulder does seem more responsive, and better at nuanced fades. When I tested the SHEHDS in a large room, I was disappointed to find that the actual "spot" setting is nowhere near the stated 8 degrees. Maybe it's my test unit, but actual was much closer to 20-22 degrees. Your video shows the Boulder as similar, so that part of the video saved me a buncha time. Thanks again!!

If I was setting up a nightclub or private party wedding room I would def start with Shehds over Chauvet. I have owned Chauvet for a decade and I can say it would be a lot more cost effective running the Shehds. Everytime an Eliminator fixture has to be sent off to get fixed the cost is well over $400 on a 80 watt fixture. My use is for a private party banquet room and not a church or theater so motor noise is not an issue. My prior lighting experience was in the 90s with a mix of Martin and Lightwave Research Highend Systems fixtures. I don't miss the Martins but man I sure do miss the Emulators from High End.... Thanks for the lighting review and the experience you bring to the game of lighting!

The Shehds are great for the money. No complaints. I ended up going with the VShow “aura” fixtures. I used them for a season. They were great. It uses the same Martin Mac Aura profile which every console has. The aura also has a scenic feature that just glows the lenses up to use as a set piece.

Thank you Ryland for this video! We are wanting to replace our old par fixtures with LED dmx controllable, but have zero need for movers. What would you recommend similar to the powerful white key lights but stationary?
@RylandRussell2 ай бұрын
Tough to say as it depends on throw distance, ambient light, stage width. I’m currently reviewing some options from shehds. Chauvet Eve are the most common budget option people go with if you need ellipsoidal. Chauvet slimpar VW are a good option for small venue.

Cheaper DMX fixtures may suffer Tearing (flickering or worse) with full speed DMX refresh rates (44Hz). Many consoles allow you to set the refresh speed on the universe to a lower value, as many of the cheaper fixtures can't keep up. Something to be aware of if you are struggling with a light that just doesn't seem to want to work with DMX (I've seen reviews where folks say the DMX is broken on cheap LEDs - most likely it's just the refresh rate is too high).

But the shehds ship in Europe so they are very cheep here too so I bought two for testing in our church. What would you say regarding tilt and pan. When marking a circle I noticed the shehds shake at the edges. Is the boulders doing the same?
