Nice job demonstrating and offering your ideas and opinions! Thanks for the 3-D printer options and showing how you use the system.

Outstanding review! I'd like to see some QR stickers if you have a lot of similar sized toolboxes but that's 3rd party doable. Your 3D prints look spot on! Thanks for this 🙂

I contest the S-Hook statement. I use one with a Rubber Broom which has a thinner handle, lower down on the tool wall, where the broom rests on the floor.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Жыл бұрын
So you're essentially just leaning it against the wall, and the S-Hook just keeps the handle upright?

You did a very good review, I also made the French cleat system and a shelf that holds my drills, radio , batteries, and chargers, so when these finally came out I didn't feel I needed any of it, then the price reassured me I didn't. Then I saw the starter kit for $60, so I grabbed it. Now starter kit is $75 here, so not buying it . Then this week at my local Depot the attachment hooks, bins ect. That are usually $12 - $15 were clearanced to $3 each, so I bought 4 or more of each, then more yesterday, now I have 33 pieces ! Now to wait for the starter rails to go on sale. Oh and I got the $50 shelf yesterday for $13 also! Thanks

LOL, that's pretty much what happened to me. I figured I wouldn't buy any more than what Ryobi originally sent for review. Then I saw a few deals, and a few more deals... If you sign up for the Home Depot deal of the day email, they've had the 4 pack of rails for $35-40 a few times the last few weeks.

@Doresoom Tool Reviews First, why would anyone want to "stand up" their Ryobi (ree•obi) flat toolbox? Secondly, you seem to complain about small or non-existent issues with things (foam insert, rails, etc). Why are you having a baseball bat on the rails? Your tool belt? Your ladder? I prefer to lay down my ladder(s) against the wall for safety reasons. Also, why in the hell would a tradesman pick up his flat toolbox and shake it upside down (parts bin test of yours)?
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Жыл бұрын
LOL Ted. From your comment it sounds like 1) You aren't interested in a wall hanging system and 2) You don't like reviews that have any critical points against the product. Why are you watching this review?

@Doresoom Tool Reviews 1) I am interested in Ryobi's (Ree•obi) Link wall system. How naive of you to assume that I'm not? Rhetorical question there. 2) I didn't see one critical or constructive point about any major issues with said products. All you did was nitpick the setup of an empty flat tool box and piss poor management of hanging items on the Link wall system. I mean, hanging a tool belt and baseball bat on the LWS? 😆. Why don't you actually put items into the flat tool box with the two parts bin and see if they [bins] move around? From your whiny response to my comments, it sounds like you cannot take any constructive criticism and/or suggestions on how to actually test these tool accessories out. Do you actually work in the trades?

If you raise the price of the rails to $80, you can have them on sale for half off at $40. I have this system too. The main objection is price and color. Love your 3D printed stuff

Great review. I’m a bit surprised you didn’t mention the reservable tool hook/holders that you can add to the empty spaces that you mentioned that were originally wasted space., That solution is solid. Personally, my foam insert fits just snug…so I’m not sure if it’s case by case basis.
@sendmedics
@sendmedics Жыл бұрын
I also agree that the price is a bit high but I usually get them when they’re on sale…I currently have all of my tool on cleats so I’m just collecting the rails as I go and will eventually transition over to the link system fully. I do however have a full set up in my garage for all of my outdoor power tools. Home Depot recently had an insane deal on the rail system where you got two 2-pack rails for $34.99….That’s less than $10 a rail! I got 8 total…Not sure we will ever see anything that good again. Also, Direct Tools had the standard 2pack of them for $20 for a little while. Just gotta be on the look out for them and strike when you can.

Ryobi came out with those reversible hooks about 6 months after releasing the Link system, if I'm remembering correctly. I hadn't seen a good deal on them yet so I didn't have any to review. I can see how they'd help maximize usable space though! As for the foam, are you using the small toolbox, or the medium one, or the wheeled one? Yeah, I bought 4 rails for $35 one week on the HD deal of the day, and then another 4 at $35 the next week!
@sendmedics
@sendmedics Жыл бұрын
I haven’t purchased the reversible hooks yet only because I don’t have a need for them at this time. But I do think the product itself is pretty neat. I use the foam in my medium tool box. And my use I mean I store it there but haven’t cut it out for tools yet. (I can’t decide on what tools would be best) I may or may not get another insert but the fact that the tool holder takes away so much usable space drives me crazy.
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Жыл бұрын
Ah, that means my hypothesis about the foam was right. The deeper toolboxes must have a narrower interior at the bottom, since the molds all need a slight draft angle to release the parts once they've cooled.

I know this is an older video, but I made it to the "S" hooks and had to pause and comment. I could not agree more. Almost useless, however, I did find that my daughters Y Flicker scooter hung perfect by the front wheel in the S hook. So something can hang by a single, central point if slid in from the side works great!

Great review!! What are your thoughts on putting these directly on studs where I have bare walls with no drywall? Do you think they will flex too much?
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews Жыл бұрын
I think it would handle most loads without the extra bracing that the drywall provides. But I don't think I'd load it down with a 50 lb ladder on a hook not directly over a stud though.

It’s a huge design flaw that the toolbox won’t stand up on its own. I bought one before I realized this.

Having the rails spaced out like that! Is ugly!! And doesn’t look professional!….The rails look great when you do a whole wall! and/or stack on top of each other! Yes there a little pricey but you do it once! There very durable as well!!
@DoresoomReviews
@DoresoomReviews 8 ай бұрын
Personally I do think it looks a little better with a solid wall, but I think it looks fine how I did mine too. It's so inefficient to stack them immediately on top of each other, since you usually can't use that space anyway since whatever you hang on the rail above it is in the way. If Ryobi made the rails significantly cheaper, then I'd probably fill in the gaps I left.
