This is very helpful. I really wanted to like the Ryobi Link system more than I actually did but you have found good ways to overcome some of their shortcomings.

I just found this channel. I'm starting my Ryobi set. I have about a dozen Ryobi tools. I have a newly-buily shed that I'm trying to organize and I love your thinking! Maybe you have one already but I'm sure lots of us would benefit and appreciate a small tour of your shop. I'd bet you have other awesome hacks that some of us haven't thought of or just didn't realize how to set something up most efficiently.

@@danconnelldesigns3168 Yeah it's a work in progress just kicking off, waiting on some materials to arrive making side panels covered in marine carpet, planning to mount Ryobi 18V battery chargers, Ryobi fan, spot light, batteries, radio, inverter etc. I think I will incorporate some of the link gear into it.

That sounds cool. I am planningba tool trailer build. I am hoping to power all the electronics with 18v batteries. Then mount all the link gear for storage. I'm hoping I can make life easier moving between my shop needs and my portable jobs.

I was really unhappy with the link system, but these little tweaks made such a difference it is all I use now. There are some nice options coming in the future as well.

Very Clever. Ryobi should sell the reversible mounts without hooks just for this reason. Well done.

Very nice vid, thanks for the commentary. Consider cutting some wooden wedges/angle blocks to mount a set of wall rails a bit above the work surface? If you use wedges then the bins will at least be tilted towards you and if you use angled blocks then they'll be tilted and provide a gap to drop in items behind the rails like chisels, small squares, screw drivers, and the like that you want to keep handy. Good luck, got yourself a new subscriber! :)

That's a great idea! Once winter arrives, I will be back in the shop to get organized. I like the idea of being able tonsee what's in the bins.

Really enjoyed this, some good ingenuity there. I'm just putting up my rails now and am trying to avoid the "wasted" space by stacking the rails vertically. I just did a few so far on one wall and I overlapped so while some spaces are on top of each other, there's also some parts with nothing directly below. However I think on the other walls I'm just going to do what you did and just straight up leave a rail's worth of space in between since there seems to be little reason to stack them. I do have the slim Link toolbox though which has to go on a stacked space but now i have that on the first wall so will be good to lock it in there.

Do you have a method for attaching traditional peg board type hooks to the Ryobi Link wall? Or does Ryobi have something that is a long smaller rod that would allow for items to hang that are not tools?
@txvet7738

You could attach it to a PackOut item and merge the two systems or vice versa!

You were talking about when Ryobi comes out with some kind of tool holder or some thing you were going to buy it. I think you should send this video to Ryobi and tell them to buy it for you because that would just be good business because you’re doing advertising like hell for them, or that’s a strange word to use for a positive you’re doing advertisement for Ryobi like crazy there we go that’s better anyway you got some pretty amazing stuff going on there maybe Ryobi is looking for an engineer I’ll put in a good word for you. Thanks 🙏

Neat setup. What about using the hanger on the bandsaw to hang the unit? Save some shelf space
@dconnell0248
@dconnell0248 Жыл бұрын
I am not a huge fan of the hangers. The tools take up more space when they hang. As silly as it sounds, I just don't line the way it looks. I am waiting for the new shelves to hit the stores, and I will place it on a wire shelf. I also like the bandsaw on a shelf since I keep my extra blades stored with it.
@juliejones8785
@juliejones8785 9 ай бұрын
@dconnell0248 The large tool hanger works pretty well for tools that are too large for the battery post holder. For example, my circular saw sits on the large hanger with the blade guard hanging down between the hooks.
@danconnelldesigns3168
@danconnelldesigns3168 8 ай бұрын
That's a good use for the hangers. I have started using a few hangers to store my chainsaw and blower. I have the new Ryobi shelving now and plan to get that up in the near future.
