Most universities have classes in making pottery, in the arts department. I remember taking the class many decades ago. I liked the old fashioned kick wheel, not an electric powered one. In an empty peaceful pottery room, with the silence and the rhythm of the kickwheel controlled by one's own energy, it was like meditation.

I'm reminded of how pottery class always stereotyped as some boring couple activity, but this looks like really satisfying work. I really like to look of these plates, but I'd imagine they're not cheap, don't know if making them yourself is any cheaper or if it's just for the personal touch.

Bobby White Luckily I'm not in great need of vases, would you say it would cause a problem for a bowl though?
@bobbywhite53197 жыл бұрын
Hmm, depends on how deep the bowl will be. If beginners try to make a big salad bowl, you'll be in for a challenge. Start small, but the most challenging part of ceramics is centering. Even after you pat down the clay as round as you can, it will never be centered which is why you need to do that.
