Ryuichi Murai: "Floatin" (v16/8C+) FA

Ryuichi recently made the first ascent of "The launchpad Project" which he called "Floatin." The climb is located in Mizugaki, Japan. It is a few moves, but each move looks pretty fucked up. Amazing looking boulder problem.
Shoutout to Rokdo (team Ryuichi and friends created)

@Rafa-uj2oi

@@Pennwisedom yeah but this one is only 2 moves really, the first one a V15 by itself. Maybe only the first move of BoD can compare (or be even harder)
@La0bouchere
@La0bouchere 10 ай бұрын
@@Rafa-uj2oi For those interested, Will Bosi (and maybe Aidan Roberts iirc) said that the first move on BoD is the hardest and is around V14, so the first on this is likely harder by itself.

Using one move wonder grading my guess would be: 1 move; V15, 2 move + foot drop; V12/V13 and 3 move; soft V14 (considering that V15 climber should not be able to do V15 one move wonder unless it is absolutely perfect move for him/her)

Having just watched Will Bosi on Burden of Dreams (2nd Day ...no repeat yet!) I came back to this truly excellent video. Love the ego-free, low-key ...yet 100% determined attitudes of both Ryuchi and Bosi ... (Aiden Roberts & Shawn R likewise) Not sure which line I prefer.... Burden is graded harder but this is beautiful - especially when climbed like this...

On the send/ final few attempts, I was confused as to why he wasn't using his feet and pushing off the starting foothold (like in all the other attempts. Then I realised (as he did) that the holds are so bad and the angle of the wall is so steep, that even the slightest bit of momentum would pull you off. For the first move to be possible, he had to campus it because even the slightest push off the wall with his feet, would create too much lateral momentum. Absolutely insane how hard the boulder is.
