The visions aren't based on desires, but on the runes themselves, in the comic ryze's companion didn't see destruction, because she was holding a green rune; the resolve rune, which is all about life, and sustaining it. The red rune is the domination rune, which is used for dominating land masses

The 5 pedestals are for the 5 runes from the game, Ryze got the Domination rune in the cinematic. There is 1 rune missing, light blue - Inspiration. If you remember at start of S8 we got a login screen where a explorer (that looked suspiciously like Ezreal) was lifting his hand towards it. I bet that its Ezreal that has the final of the runes, he has Inspiration (fookin Kelptomany abuser.)

What if watchers don't spawn only eyes, but also floating noses, ears and mouths.

Yeah, the final shot may show only 4 Runes even tho the lore says a total of 9, but it's fun how the colors are of the Runes in-game. Yellow - Precision, Green - Resolve, Red - Domination (w/c kinda explains Ryze's visions of power), and Blue/Purple - Sorcery. The 5th space looks like it needs a Blue Green Rune - Inspiration. Also, the champions cameo make up a full team: Nasus Top, Trundle Jg, Ryze Mid, Miss Fortune ADC, and Sona Support. Another thing I noticed too... Each Rune can be used by each champ: Nasus - Resolve (Grasp) Trundle - Precision (PTA) Ryze - Inspiration (Spellbook) Miss Fortune - Domination (DH) Sona - Sorcery (Aery) Anyway, just little things that I noticed about the cinematic :)

Like I just thought it was "Oh this champion is friends with this other champion" or "This champion is rivals with so and so" and then on to explain a little story about how each champ is special and powerful, but no... this shit is like an MCU level type of universe

8:30 I think it's more likely that the tree where he's standing is the tree in the picture... and that it was probably the "world tree" where the rune shards originated from. The memorial was probably created after the people realized cutting it down was a mistake.

Well well Ryze says once he has captureed all the runes he'll "die" Now Necrit says the runes are the source of all magic And Senpai Necrit also says the trees are draining the runes powers So when all runes are drained there will be no more magic As Ryzes body at this point is held alive by arcane magic that might be the reason why he says that he will die? it does seem to suggest that the 5 pillars are the 5 rune trees we have in game to choose from, the last one missing would then be Inspiration. it would also make sense since the red rune would be Domination, and showing ryze a vision of him dominating and destroying everything.

coming back to this i realize that this was the rune vision was actually twisting on his memories on how to stop the armies before his home was destroyed by using the rune but in actuality that was his master Tyrus where Ryze was standing was actually where he used the power of another rune to cause destruction in order to collect another rune found within the city before ryze confronted him

the runes that ryze has are literally the runes that you use in game. Precision, domination, resolve, sorcery, and then the one that ryze is missing and that you have to level up a bit in game inspiration

You talked about how the 4 runes shown in the demacian vault when combined as 5 might become a world rune. The only way I'd know that'd work is if ryze knew the vault was completely hidden however it was built by someone else, so him knowing if it might still be used or not seems unlikely to me. Because if was not sure about how well it was hidden and these rune shards could be combined to make a world rune, I feel like he wouldn't put them in the same place. What would seem really interesting to me is if the runes shards that need to be combined have the same color except different shapes, since the rune shards in the demacian vault seem to have quite similar shapes. That way he could hide rune shards with the same shapes in 1 place so that if one of the hidden places gets found / raided they would still not be able to combine them unless they've found all of the other hiding spots, however this way if someone found all of the hiding spots, they'd be able to combine all of the rune shards ryze has ever found \_0.0_/ not sure if this works with current lore btw havent been keeeping up lately

I would say specific shards of a world rune wield specific magic which powers up the user giving them the ability of destruction as we see in the short.I personally think and as I know many agree on that those specific world rune shards have 5 kinds of magic which leads to them being our world in-game runes Sorcery,Domination,Inspiration,Resolve and Precision split by color and in the short if Ryze gets the missing Inspiration/Sorcery shard he can assemble a full world rune even though he won’t give into their temptation.

in an earlier shot it shows columns on the sides at like 9:14 I think the shot that shows 4 shards it was just a suspense scene in my opinion and id love to see a 3-hour long animated lore movie from riot tying everything together and giving a sneak peek of what is to come

I have a theory that each of the shards is a keystone for all 5 rune types. Ryze found a domination shard in the cinematic. At the end we see he has collected one shard (or keystone) for precision, resolve, domination, and sorcery. One for inspiration hasnt been found yet. A speculation is that once you acquire all shards or keystones the shards will becomes it’s true world rune form, just like the shapes a see on rune pages.

If I remember correctly, he was on a mission with his "Teacher" (idk how to call that guy) and when they managed to steal the rune instead of destroying/suppressing it he wanted to use it and Ryze had to kill him (and take his scroll). I think that flashback is when he used the rune before Ryze managed to kill him. That might just be old lore - I don't remember

The black and red rune shard is supposed to represnt the Domination rune from the game, not evil.

about the watchers having a underground conection, the malphite lore update kinda confirmed it, because he was killing void creatures in a shuriman (if i remember correctly) mine. he said the void creatures are spreading through the whole world deep underground and many more are coming

Another thought, when the rune shows him that image of destruction and he has no scroll, it could be a flash back to what Brand does in future chapters of the comic. Maybe he snatched the scroll at the same time he gets a rune stone

Hence the never again vow. He’s never going to try again to teach someone like Brand how to control his rage, and how to protect the runes

In the splashart he was holding the precision rune. This is the domination rune. In the cinematic he had already stored the precision rune.

+Necrit If you remember when we had the new map and we got the last iteration of dragons (the iteration between the dragons that just gave gold and the current elemental dragons) all the dragons were just one type. Depending on the timeline this could fit into your theory too. before they got the shards all the dragons were just that, regular dragons. Now after they were given the runes they gained the elemental abilities and have become the dragons we have now. Also if there were multiple world runes that were broken up in to many pieces could each shard be an element ie. the red is fire the blue is the ocean... but then we have the problem that we only have 4 dragon types i think (not including elder because that should be from the age of dragons before the runes)

The 4 (5) runes on the pedestals at the end of the cinematic seem to corespond with the runes in game: Precision, Resolve, Domination, Sorcery and Inspiration is the one missing

One little thing I discovered on my own. It may be too obvious to mention, but still. Ryze told his apprentice about the reviving power of the rune and how it's not what you would expect. He knew what kind of resurection that would be because he knew all about the ruination and how the queen was resurected as a zombie. And now I wonder what if the mist on Shadow Isles has as source one corrupted rune which Ryze can remove and fix everything?

so if the runes are the same rune we have for rune pages is a total of 5, and when,you think about it magic can be used in different ways,resolve,domination,sorcery,precision, and inspiration, since magic can bend reality, we can assume the rune that ryze got from whatever his friend name was, we could assume that that was the inspiration rune, but since it’s a warm glow what I’m assuming is that,ryze has the inspiration rune.because he basically can bend reality,meaning temporal magic is powered by the inspiration rune, now since the other runes are self explanatory,the missing runes could be new runes pages
