Woodstock's mayor confirms S-Town podcast figure Tyler Goodson is dead after a police involved shooting. Mayor Jeff Dodson said in an emailed statement that Woodstock Police were dispatched on a 911 call to Goodson's home -- MORE ➡ t.ly/MPlFu

..As Tyler said in an interview once, "people are gonna believe what they want to believe" and that's true, but I will say this. I grew up in Woodstock Alabama, and Tyler and I lived just down the street from each other at one point. If you take the saying "looks can be deceiving" then that's extremely accurate. You may see just another tattooed guy in a small town and hear stories and not know what to think, but I can tell you some strong facts, and that is that Tyler was one of the most genuine people you'd ever meet. I can not stress enough how good of a heart this dude had. He helped anyone he could, my family included. It's beyond shocking to hear of his passing. Some of the stuff being said, I can't see it. Depression or not, I can't ever picture him provoking such a situation. This dude was incredibly bright, genuine, and just a damn good person. His loss is felt by countless people. I know many people who didn't even know him and are heartbroken upon hearing the news just because they knew of him and how great of a guy he was. I've never heard a single person ever say anything bad about him, god to honest truth. Come to think of it the only negative talk I can think of comes from the greedy cousins of john b in the s town podcast....that's literally it. Everyone liked Tyler. His passing is truly a tragic loss and he will be missed immensely.

@@mike-xn1qj it won't. Because he didn't? I always like confirmation of a story where there's a fatality. There needs to be transparency in cases like these because the stories from the two sides already seem to wildly different.

@@j39389 Are you suggesting the cops weren't there? Is it your contention that he was shot for trying to be arrested? The "barricaded himself in the house" part was the part where he lost my sympathy. Go get booked and get a court date like the rest of us. AGAIN, it will NOT show him trying to climb into the cop car. I'm not sure how you got lost.

@@mike-xn1qj I'm not saying that anyone is right or wrong. I'm saying that in a contentious situation, like this, it's best to be as transparent as possible. I'm not saying the cops did anything wrong, nor am I saying that he did. What I AM saying, is that I hope the police present their case sooner rather than later, because civil unrest isn't in anyone's best interest here.

@@j39389 That's why I pointed out that refusing to be arrested could be considered "civil unrest". It's like playing football, punching the guy with the whistle gets you ejected from the game. The instant replay of the original "out of bounds" is immaterial. It looks like he did get his depression cured though.

Bibb County Coroner Patrick Turner on Wednesday said Goodson, 32, was declared brain dead at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday. "He was not killed Sunday, nor was he dead on Monday,’’ the coroner said. “I have no idea how the story got out, how it broke. I was like, ‘this is wrong.’”

Ok so how come nobody else here is asking for the phone call? I want to hear that phone call because normally they will say why they was called for and not just a phone call!! Let me guess we investigated ourselves and we done nothing wrong right? We citizens are tired of the lies the corruption but most of all the being treated like criminals!! It's pretty bad when someone from Mexico or another country seems to be treated better here in America than us actual American's!! Its quite disgusting the way we are treated by government and law enforcement both!!

They were called there. Then, the man they were called there to help confronted them with a gun. What were they supposed to do? You know, sometimes these people just commit suicide by cop and the police are just as much victims if not more.

Just learned about this. Almost feels like a relief John didn’t have to experience this loss. I’m so sad. Sounds like Tyler just needed help and was once again failed by law enforcement. Cops aren’t equipped to deal with these types of calls.

And see? One's actions become a walking disaster. Macklemore (not the artist) was a selfish idiot for killing himself; knowing how close he and Goodson were. And trigger happy cops always favor taking lives than taking precautions to disarm culprits. This is why citizens are choosing to defund most law enforcements. Hasty and selfish as everybody was, no doubt Tyler's five children will resent sheriffs and policemen now.

I'm not a fan of cops, but if you wave a gun at them and give them reason to think you're inclined to shoot them, then you can only expect them to protect themselves. They're not going to risk getting killed to give you the benefit of the doubt. The dude set the tone by waving the gun in the first place. It's tragic and a waste, yeah, but it sounds like the cops did have some reason to be on high alert concerning this guy.
