S1 - Ep 126 - We Enjoyed a Stunning Brunch in Pringle Bay!

2 жыл бұрынIt wasn’t far for us to travel from Betty’s Bay to Pringle Bay. We took a short drive through the centre of town and found the Lemon & Lime Deli where we sat down outside and enjoyed a stunning brunch. From there we took a drive down to the other side of Pringle Bay where we could have a good look at Hangklip, which was very impressive. We tried our best to reach the lighthouse we spotted from Betty’s Bay side and we got very close. The presence of the mongoose must mean that there are plenty of "slangs" about, baboons (which are a big problem there) and snakes aside, Pringle Bay must be one of the most underrated villages along Clarence Drive. I considered moving there when I worked in the Helderberg as it was closer than my daily commute from town. Btw, I had the most awesome breakfast at the Hangklip hotel.

I am very happy to report that we didn't run into any 'slangs'! 😁 You're quite correct, the baboons are really a serious issue there. When we were travelling through, they had apparently been cleared from the 'top part' of town (left of the main road) and were slowly being moved back in the direction of their natural habitat, where they obviously belong. We hope the locals find a long-term solution, good for the human and baboon population.

Great to do a virtual visit to Pringle Bay after being away so many years! Apparently, Pringle Bay (named after Thomas Pringle, Rear-admiral in charge of Simon's Town Royal Navy Base 1796-1798) was called Gordon's Bay at one point, but changed its name later, after the present town known as Gordon's Bay adopted the name.

That beach is lovely. I will play with those shell pieces for hours. They crunch so nicely under your feet.

It was incredible that the whole beach was full of those crushed shells. Reflexology by nature! 🐚

Nope! I'm from an English-speaking family, but grew up in the Free State, therefore the accent. 😁 My wife, Sonia, is indeed Afrikaans. 🥰
