The first thing we saw as we entered Keimoes was green vegetation and springboks grazing on the grass. The green was complemented by the bright blue skies and the warm weather we experienced. The town was very busy on this day but we were told it was the end of the picking season so all the contract workers were paid and were doing their shopping before making their way home. Driving through Keimoes was awesome. We decided to drive up Tierberg and the view of the surrounding farmland from up there was spectacular. We almost had to spend the night in the church grounds because the automated gate was open when we entered, but closed when we wanted to leave. Fortunately the minister opened for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Keimoes. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #northerncape #keimoes

Aha! Desert Raisins, it is the raisin for living! Now dessert raisins, that is a good raisin to eat more pudding! Kei moes maar ...or else! Keimoes is a must!.Those bokkies are sooooo cute! Love the Catholic church centre. It must have been a monastery at some stage, hence the Friarsdale rivier. The waterwheel is so cool. Beats Eskom. Tierberg is awesome, would love to walk up it. And what a view! Really enjoyed my visit to Keimoes. Still waiting for my pudding, though.

Good of you to put two and two together about the Friarsdale River! I never even associated that with the Catholic Mission Station. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Give me raisins any day of the week too, but mine must be in yellow rice with curry! 😁🍲 Glad you enjoyed coming to Keimoes with us! I hope you got your pudding in the meantime!

Hi guys what a beautiful little town tree lined streets and springbok a lovely clean and busy high street. St John's RC church and mission lovely. Frierdale river could be named after the friers from RC mission I myself live a few miles away from a 11 century RC monastery called The Friers. Voortrekker monument always makes me think how Hardy and determined they were .beautiful DRf church and grounds immaculate nearly locked in that's what I love about these videos they are so real .Loved the Persian wheel 2000 year old tech and still works vineyards every where .wow what a green place I will never eat a hot cross bun without thinking about Keimos. Thanks for an awesome video cheerio till the next one

It was indeed a fantastic way to be welcomed to Keimoes by both the trees and the springbok. I'll borrow your saying: only in South Africa! 🚙🇿🇦 Well done for matching the Friarsdale River up to the Catholic Church, I didn't make that connection! 🤷🏼‍♂️💒🌊 You've made me jealous with 'your' 11th century monastery just a few miles away from you! Sonia and I often joke and say that we'll need three weeks in every place in Europe. We get super excited about a place or building being 200 years old, heaven only knows what we'll do with a place that's almost 1000 years old! 😳 We really thought we'll be spending the evening in the grounds of the Dutch Reformed Church and could already see the faces of the people when they arrived the next morning, observing these two dishevelled travellers who slept in their car in front of the church! 🤣🚙

🤣 I'm always surprised when we reach the end of the town as we drive through the main road. I don't know why, because we've seen some pretty small ones already! This part of the Northern Cape was not only much greener than we ever could imagine, it was also fantastic to see how busy the towns are! 🌳🍇 Thanks for coming along and I hope you will again when we drive down the next short (or long) main road! 😁🚙

Hi you two! Thank you for this great trip under the hot blue skies to the Keimoes oasis to be welcomed by Springbokkies.. The view from Tierberg is stunning. Was there any sign left of the flooding they suffered late last year? The houses on the green treelined streets make me want to go live there (if I were 30 or so years younger!) This is truly a real, live and thriving desert town, making the most of the available water. I really take my hat off for the foreign missionaries who came to these desert areas in the 1870's for mission work, leaving places such as Keimoes as their legacy. I'm just waiting for the next trip! Keep safe!

The Springbok Welcoming Committee indeed did a fantastic job and we felt right at home in Keimoes right from the moment we entered the town! 😍🦌 I wasn't aware of the flood in Keimoes and didn't see any indication of that whatsoever. None of the folks we chatted to, mentioned that either. 🤷🏼‍♂️ The churches in town were really fascinating and one can't help but admire those folks who came to spread the gospel in this and other desolate areas all those years ago, where the environment can no doubt be extremely harsh at times! 🥵💒 I'm glad you enjoyed Keimoes with us! 🚙🍇

I'm glad you thought Keimoes was a great place, we did too! We never thought the gate at the church would close while we're inside, so we had a few rather nervous moments since we wouldn't have known who to call had we been trapped in the grounds. Fortunately we were rescued by the minister! 😁💒 That old mission church is such a wonderful building and deserves to be restored, so I echo your hope. Sonia has absolutely loved orange ice lollies since she was a child, so since we were in the vicinity of the Orange River, she took her chance whenever she could! 🍊🧡 And orange is such a happy colour too, we always thought that when we saw your cricketers on the field! 🏏
