After an incredible train journey, we delved into the enchanting world of the Elgin Railway Market. The bustling atmosphere and captivating displays immediately caught our attention, offering a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. Navigating through the vibrant arts and crafts, we found ourselves immersed in a sea of creativity. Despite the array of delightful options, our culinary experience fell short of expectations, with the exception of the delicious fries and snacks of droewors, biltong and macadamia nuts. Nevertheless, the overall visit to the market was a delightful adventure. As we reluctantly bid farewell, the return train journey to Cape Town left us with lasting memories of a day filled with exploration and discovery. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #elginrailwaymarket

Nice camera work, loved the views. And for two people who are always looking at the bright side of things - glass-half-full people - I was also impressed with the straight and honest reviews of the not-so-great market food.

Very interesting to watch….. one thing (as an ex South African) I can say, folks in South Africa knows how to do things in a very classy manner. There’s just that special touch to detail, love it.

If there is one thing I love about SA is that there are so many talented and artistic Africans, they can use just about anything and turn it into something so beautiful. And not just that the Africans also have such a beautiful voices that they don't even need any instruments to play. It comes so naturally to them. I'm so proud of SA❤

Sonia and Curtis, these are such memories you are building for us and each other! (As I have to live without my life-partner these days, it is still a joy to share your travels around our "home" area) Just think how much many of us would like to "meet" Sonia in some of these journeys you share with us...

Loved your visit to the market .. I was quite jealous ! One thing that I saw that brought back memories- on your trip back home you were videoing the view and the fire etc - but on the window of the train there was etched the head of a springbok .. I remember that from when I was kid and we used to travel from Gingindlovu on the North Coast to visit my Ouma in Durban … 😊

Seeing my home from home while watching from the uk. Thank you so much, guys. My boet does the fireman duties for the ceres rail locomotive 3322 sometimes. Doesn't look like he was firing on the day you went up the pass though. Much love from the saffa in the uk ❤

We're not quite ready for the long road after our very long Kruger trip, so we'll be exploring much, much closer to home for a while, at least until we feel up to it again! 😁

I'm glad you enjoyed the market with us! 😁 We love chicken samoosas and know them as moist and flavourful little pastry triangles filled with the most delicious fillings. As a matter of fact, we buy fantastic chicken-and-onion samoosas right here in Strand!

Thanks for another awesome video, you can't beat South Africa for wining and dining. I love the way you take us all around the shops showing prices and South African hand made curios. The wire metal beaded animals are well made.There is certainly a lot of local talent. You two are inspirational ,you are living life to the full, thanks for sharing your travels😊

This was well informed video. I know exactly what to expect should I have the opportunity to go on the Elgin train. Maybe food was spoilt by the delays...just a thought. I think you will find something to buy there....they covered just about everything at that market. 🎉❤🎉 loved all those snacks you enjoying hey. Never too much fat on biltong 😂
@DustBugsTravel

I'm with you 100% on the fat on biltong! And the yellower, the better! 😈🥓 The delays definitely ate into our shopping and eating time at the market, and we may have picked items in haste. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi you two! What a market! It is literally a whole town under one roof. Everything is there! I would have spent my time trying out everything at the Fudge Kitchen. The train ride back was as splendid as the first one. Lovely and interesting scenery. Thank you for sharing a whole day. I am ready for the next trip. Stay safe!

All along the coast from Port Nolloth to Mosselbaai there are little fishing villages. Have you thought of doing a series visiting all of these fishing communities?
@DustBugsTravel
@DustBugsTravel 4 ай бұрын
We've visited many coastal towns and villages, including Port Nolloth in Episode 233 and Mossel Bay in Episode 280. 🚙😁Fishing is not an interest nor a pastime of ours, so we won't be visiting more fishing villages to make videos.

Do they still grow apples in Elgin I remember, when I lived in S.A. I bought golden delicious apple from an apple farm, I think
@DustBugsTravel
@DustBugsTravel 4 ай бұрын
Indeed! The Elgin Valley is in the heart of apple country and apples are still very much grown there. 😍🍎🍏 The crates you saw on the left-hand side of the train as we arrived at the Railway Market, were mostly apple crates.
