Both of us were eagerly anticipating our visit to Ladybrand. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we wasted no time and immediately began exploring the town. Our attention was quickly drawn to the plethora of sandstone buildings that adorned the streets. Among our discoveries were a number of churches and the station. Although no longer operational, its architectural charm remained intact. By sheer luck, we stumbled upon two long-standing war memorials, adding unexpected depth to our experience. Our time in Ladybrand, nestled in the beautiful Eastern Free State, proved to be nothing short of remarkable. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #ladybrand #freestate

Indeed, an abundance of magnificent stonemasonry throughout the town. Both the NG church and Anglican church are beautiful buildings. An impressive destination. Thank you.

Hi you two! Thank you for taking me on this sunny Sunday afternoon trip to Ladybrand under the blue skies! It really is a beautiful town with its long history. Those churches are special. With so many of its buildings made of stone, I'm sure it will still be there after another 100+ years. I am eagerly waiting for the next trip. Until then, Keep safe!

Wow! I am so enjoying my tour through the beautiful golden free state. Ladybrand is another place we often visited, in those days plenty of trains were running. Then we would go on to Ficksburg and Golden Gate. The stone buildings are awesome. Thank you for findingthe ex-station. The NDR church is so beautiful.

Hi guys I wish a happy Easter 🐣. A couple of points I can relate to the 200 year old Catholic Church and the memorial I trained with the Royal fusiliers during basic training in the army made up of Northumberland and Worcestershire and City of London fusiliers (really struggled to understand the Northumberland boys accents lol 😆) plenty of nice architecture and a town hall my favourite houses with the stoop on the road .the huge NGK church was stunning and I'm always amazed they've built it in rural SA the entrance to Anglecan church is called a Lychgate . How quirky Chinese restaurant in a lovely stone building loved your accommodation. I agree with you very impressed with Lady Brand 👏 thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

In September 1973 I attended a conference at St Augustines Priory in Modderpoort, just north of Ladybrand. On the internet I see that this is now guest accommodation etc. Had you "popped in" there, you would have seen more wonderful stone buildings. It really is impressive. If you are still in that area or will be returning to the Cape that way, you should give it a visit. You needn't make a video thereof, but just see it for your own benefit.

Unfortunately the Modderpoort from those days is in a dilapidated state. Some station buildings are stripped and the buildings of the rectory where father Claerhout used to make his famous paintings is in a terrible state.

Its about 30 since i was in Ladybrand, i only visited the place once. It was a bit of an Oasis, with its trees and greenery. The people there were universally nice. I had my mum and dad with me, iver from the UK and they found a lovely tea garden, my business that day was with the good folks from the Fruit Marketing board. By the way i noticed a Lt Guy Fawkes on the roll of honour in the anglican church- maybe some relation

The Chinese Restaurant, in a stunning location, is appropriately named for this episode released on Good Friday...I am glad to see that your stays are starting to be sponsored, its such a great marketing opportunity for them, especially as you're experienced in showcasing real estate, they're reaching thousands of eyeballs that might just decide to visit a place based solely on a particular guest house where you've stayed. We have already visited one of these awesome guest houses based on your channel. As a matter of interest is your Kwid also sponsored? Have a Happy and Blessed Easter and thanks for these videos. 😊

Thank you for staying this course with us, it's awesome to know that you've been with us on every single one of the 60000+ km we've done to date. We're very grateful to the owners of the accommodation establishments who sponsor our videos and we certainly hope the exposure they gain, will prove fruitful in the long-term. 🏡 Our vehicle is not sponsored and we still rent a Kwid for every trip. We've been approached by several vehicle dealerships and manufacturers, but we're not willing to compromise on the authenticity of our content to suit their needs, so we'll happily continue on this path until we're perhaps lucky enough one day to partner up with a like-minded vehicle company. 🚙😁

You miss the grave/monument of Antjie Scheepers at the NG Kerk, brave woman in the Louis Trichardt-trek. She lost her husband Gert and 4 of her 9 children. She survived the Delagoatrek, re-married and settle in Ladybrand district. Also birthplace of State president Nic Diedericks

🇿🇦🐘🚂. Fijne Paasdagen samen 🐣🐥

Ladybrand has the most gorgeous stone buildings and so many of them, we were truly spoilt for choice. It was fantastic! 🤩 I actually thought my hair was longer than usual and I had it cut the week after we got home. 💇🏻 I have been wearing the cap and shirts on our travels and at home and they're holding up well after being washed and ironed. I haven't had much time lately to do anything other than working, travelling and editing though, so I haven't focused on that aspect much yet. I'm keen to add more shirts and caps to my own collection and I hope similar ones will be available for sale sometime. When exactly, I really can't say! 🤷🏻‍♂️👕🧢 Thank you for still travelling along with us, we appreciate your company, as always.

Thank you for this tour through Ladybrand, I found it very interesting, a thorough mix of everything and of course the stone buildings. The churches were of particular interest with their amazing stonemasonry and war memorials. The tree lined streets with European trees, but indigenous succulents are often seen. It wold be interesting to know when this was a thriving town with trains coming through and what brought about the settlement of this town. Was it primarily a farming town, or was there other sorts of industry that called for people to move here other than just a supply town. It’s quite big, so I’m thinking it can’t just be a farming town and what would be the chief source of farming out of town.

Wikipedia says that Ladybrand 'was created by Voortrekkers to give them control over the territories conquered and captured after the Basotho wars in 1867'. Ladybrand has always been and continues to be a farm predominantly sustained by agriculture and, because of its close proximity to Lesotho, entrepreneurial activities also contribute greatly to the economy of the town. We've seen many a medium-sized town such as Ladybrand bring sustained by agriculture. I think livestock and a variety of crops, including maize, would be the main farming activities. 🚜🐑🌽 It sadly sounds as if trains haven't travelled to or through Ladybrand in many years, but I'm not sure exactly when they stopped. 😢🚉 Thank you for watching our video!
