It's a news show. It doesn't make sense to make it exclusive, since people are not gonna buy the show later on in large enough numbers to justify the infrastructure and whatnot.

I got my first one around 2019 on Telegram I think. I responded with the polite 'I'm sorry, you appear to have the wrong number' only to get the person trying to further engage me in conversation with a photo of an attractive lady attached. I stopped replying. No one wants to be my friend that badly. 🤣

I got one around 2020 through reddit. But I'm that friend's weird husband who knows about crypto and sucks to talk to, so I knew to tell the "friend" to f off as soon as "investment opportunity" came up. I was also expecting it to be some kind of scam from the start, as just like mentioned in the video: I suck to talk to, no one would befriend me at random like that. Also, I used to get those a lot by Telegram, but way less refined and rushed to the "great opportunity" part. I just started having fun and calling for the scam bait before they came up with it, like "so, when are you going to tell me about your great scam opportunity?". Some would call me names and block me, others would actually go through with it. They stopped a while ago, maybe my profile is marked as useless by now.

I got messages like these from three separate senders last year. All had profile pictures of beautiful Asian women and asked if I was a tour guide. I replied to the first one, saying it was the wrong number and then another saying ”enjoy your tour”. I got suspicious about the response times and didn’t reply again. The other two messages came over a couple of weeks and went unanswered

Jim Browning, a KZfaqr who specializes in infiltrating and dismantling scam operations, also recently did a very good episode on it.

People should be forced to have IT litteracy education. And the gourverment should just hire people who have basic know-how of IT to do it. Just give people a job that can really help a lot. I would never fall for a scame but I also grew up being online, especially in games you learn about scamming before your 12.

There's a charity called Blue Dragon in Vietnam that deals with trafficking victims. About 10 years ago, it was often Vietnamese women trafficked to China to be a wife. Now increasingly, it's both men and women being trafficked to work abroad. Cambodia probably has the most corrupt police force in the world. I remember watching a documentary where they were actually with the police doing a raid on a child brothel, and when they got there, it was obvious that someone in the police had tipped them off and they found nothing. The whole thing was just a show for the cameras. Recently, China managed to shut down a bunch of scammers in Myanmar by pressuring the Myanmar regime (who are basically propped up by Chinese money at this point), because they were scamming Chinese citizens, but they're unlikely to care if they're scamming people from anywhere else.

I suspect astro turfing. So basically a well funded group pretends to be grass roots and actually provides excerpts they can read of real books but that most likely are NOT in a school library or otherwise clearly marked for certain ages.

Another conversation: if each of the embryos is a child, aren't they supposed to be given a social security numbers? Birth records? Parents should also be eligible for welfare, right? They did say "... despite their develompental state" meaning there should be no exclusion for children under 18! John Oliver and Last Week Tonight's vocabulary and thought is tame in comparison to trying to decode wild accents (and dialects / English-adjacent languages). But that's so much the Final Boss it would be discouraging to learners! You have to get to the John Oliver level before attempting it.

She has broken him... he did forgive her and am glad for that as they are equilly to blame for falling for it. Most of the blame is on scammers but some tiny fault is on the fooled also. But he is a broken man now, close to retirement and lost all he and his wife worked for.
