Yep, its crazy how much bureacy that system is. Every year you haft to fill out forms? The only thing you haft do in Denmark is have your yellow card renewed if you change doctor. That is the only exspense. Of course private healthcare is huge in Denmark as well. People with a lot of money can buy better care. So there is a lot of imbalance sadly.

There's an aspect here that i feel a lot of US Americans miss. "Big Pharma" is not just US American - in other countries we just negotiate prices and make them pay texes. Ironically, as someone from Denmark Big Pharma helps pay for my universal healthcare. The biggest pharma company in the world is Danish and they make their money off products such as Ozempic and Wegovy, which you pay a lot for in USA, then that money goes into the danish business which then pays 22% tax to the danish government. As a Dane I should be rooting for republicans to have power, but I'm not a selfish A hole.

Watching this from France and it seems KZfaq France or the Public Services thought it was necessary to pin on this video a message from the public service official website essentially saying "Information on voluntary abortion. A pregnant woman, including a minor, who does not wish to continue a pregnancy may request an abortion. The practice of abortion is regulated and several steps must be followed before and after the procedure. During the consultation, the pregnant woman must be informed of the abortion methods available and has the right to choose one of them freely, depending on the term of the pregnancy. Here's what you need to know." There is a link to the website where you can indeed find all you need to know about your rights. I'm glad they did. I don't know where America is going but it's frightening even from here.

There is a simple moral dilemma that you can ask yourself: would you kill a group of 1,000 people because you know for a FACT that one of them is a criminal? What about 10,000 people with a single criminal? What about a million people with a single criminal? Frankly, if you answered "yes" to any of these, you should not be in charge of anything whatsoever. The fear of someone is "gaming the system" is unfounded. It is like Nixon's "homelessness by choice" - complete nonsense that pins the blame on the victims. The medicaid system is so miserable. In 2020, due to COVID, the ability to go in-person to talk to someone to sign up or renew were all closed. Most of them are still closed. So I had no option other than to fill out all the forms, attach all the relevant documents and drop them off at designated area -> wait for weeks, call them and ask them how it is going, get told that I literally didn't check a single useless box on the form saying that I'm not a veteran, redo the entire thing and make triply sure that I didn't miss any useless boxes on the stupid form -> wait for a few more weeks and call them for updates, where they weren't happy with the bank statements and wanted more months -> so here I go again, doing it all over again, printing out almost a year of bank statements -> and finally, after waiting some more weeks, it's been like two months -> I finally got told "okay yeah, you did it properly." The system is so trash that it hurts to even think about. I have a few more months left before I go through it again... earlier if I get "unwinded." sigh

Meanwhile here in Brazil all I have to do is show a valid ID when I go to a public hospital. And that is the case even when I'm in another city or another state, all I ever had to do was fill up a form talking about my basic medical records (allergies, previous surgeries and diseases, etc) and that was just once because I went to a hospital in a very small city that wasn't connected to the national server yet so they didn't have access to my information.

To be honest, I don't think the CNN anchor was clueless, he just avoided saying it himself to not risk backlash from potentially saying something racist (or being understood as racist). The parallel with women's right to vote was safer since the point of the conversation was women's rights. Also, he probably knew that talking about that would make the guy take the hint and point it out himself. Still, for a country about freedom and progress, removing rights based on a law 160 years old speaks volumes.

In the US the whole entire economical and political system is set up in a way that makes switching to universal healthcare/medicare for all near to impossible. I live in Finland. We have affordable public healthcare. That means our government pays for it when we get sick and therefore it has a vested interest in us staying healthy in the first place. What does that mean? Putting regulations in place to keep our water clean and the food good quality, among other things. But that cuts into the bottom line of companies. In a fully capitalist system which the US proudly declares itself to be, that isn't what the government does. Free markets and all that, you know. Here, the government benefits from a healthy population, in the USA there is no drawback for the government if the population is sick. And as long as those same companies who don't want regulations chewing on their profits keep showering the politicians with money that isn't going to change either. IF America was to suddenly switch over the cost would be MASSIVE because of the unhealthy citizens that have to then be taken care of (because companies have been allowed to stream roll riiight over everyone for decades and decades). And to lower that cost the populus would have to be made healthier, starting with the air they breathe, the food they eat, the water they drink (and the way they work, because that is a whole other can of worms). Do you see the incredible effort that would take? It is a systemic issue.
@ferinzz
@ferinzz 24 күн бұрын
@@lemonielala3080 the current issue is that there is little to no negotiations on pricing. Nor is there a standard set of success measurements to tell a company "no your drug is so marginally different from the last it's not worth 5x the cost". There are plenty of ways for the government to make it affordable for them. Starting with the fact that a huge portion of medical bills will go unpaid even now. Meaning it's technically a profit loss for the facility, meaning it's a tax write off. There is always far more benefit to having a healthy housed population than there is to abandon the population to the vultures. It's just that people will say that they want the choice about paying for insurance... while there's others dying because the Financial risk of going to a hospital is too great. Not to mention the fact that companies can and will fire you for being sick. The government does spend more money restricting access to medicine than it is willing to spend to provide the medicine.

They sure are trying hard to bring that shit over here as well. UK is shutting down NHS like there's no tomorrow. And the EU is a little slower but they sure are trying and lobbying.

@@ramilehti UK is like the bridge between US and Europe. I worked in the UK for a year several years ago and I gave up on having any medical care there and just got them whenever I came back in France. Just to get an appointment with a GP was needlessly complicated. So I agree, lobbyists are bringing Europe closer and closer to the US and I can see the effect on my own public services (education and health the most)

Thank you again John for releasing and uploading the full episodes on the official channel, been watching the show in low res and the camera jumping and zooming in at random and had to watch it on unofficial channels on yt that got deleted a few hours later, now those unofficial channels ran out of business and views and this channel and vids get more views and exposure since they can stay up and they're not low res and zooming in and out at random and flipping the image and mirroring it to avoid the automatic copyright. The best remedy for piracy is always just to release it on the official channels to the public and the original source benefits from this as well because there's nothing to pirate so no leeching off views. Thank you John, very cool!

Chile has private medical practice and a bunch of private health insurers, and, a public healthcare system called Fonasa (National Health Fund). You get a 7% discount in your salary/pension, and that's it. If you are unemployed or have a very low salary, you don't pay. If you work independently, you pay by yourself according to your income. That gives you attention in the public facilities and private ones working with agreements; there you pay according to your income level. If you have a low/no income, you get treatment only in public facilities - but if necessity arises, you might end up having a transplant for free. Mothers-to-be and young children have a dedicated system of healthcare. Fonasa is slow, inefficient, it has multiple deficiencies, but, boy, you are not subject to the mess of the American no-healthcare-system you have. Time for a real revolution?

Work requirements say so much about those who implement it: they wouldn't work at all if they weren't forced to. Outside of them, people actually do have dreams and work requirements are a great way to force them into a lifetime of underemployment.

It's all about trapping people into bad and low income jobs. You'll take a lot of abuse for $7.5 an hour if your life literally depends on it. Work requirements are a great way to keep wages low and workers submissive.
