This is the first in our series from our 98 day adventure overlanding trip to Alaska, British Columbia, Yukon, and Northwest Territories. During this adventure we survive rain, snow, fires, ice, bears, sheep, and perpetual daylight to bring you some of the most amazing views found on our planet!
This first episode covers our trip from San Diego, CA, trying to dodge fires in British Columbia, to our last camp in Yukon Territory before crossing over the border into Alaska. We travel in our Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro pulling a Patriot Campers X3 camper trailer.
This video was made in HDR for those with compatible devices. Best color and dynamic range of dark and light is seen on an HDR compatible device.
Mentioned in this video are tufa formations. To learn more about them check out our first Death Valley episode when we visit Trona Pinnacles:

Haha exactly like us. Planning a trip we had the walls full of maps 👍🏻😃. Beautiful filming, well done mate. Greetings from Blackrock … missing some times the North, was so beautiful up there, isn’t it?

Thanks Ernst - I'm not surprised about maps on the wall, we seem to think in the same way many times 😄. Doing post and all the video from the summer I'm really missing the north. Of course I'm sure it's a bit cooler now. Your photo from Blackrock was outstanding 👍🏼. Hope to cross paths again sometime!

You have done a wonderful job on documenting your travels. I love the planning your wife does, I do that for us as well but your wife takes it to a level that I aspire to do! We are going to take a trip to Alaska next August so your video's are very inspiring. If you do not mind sharing, what do you use to film your video's? I do want also to say you have the sound just perfect which many struggle with. A+ on everything!

Thanks so much! Yes, Debbie takes attention to detail to a level we all aspire to 😄. We primarily shoot video with a Sony A7SIII using a variety of lenses. For stills and some video we use a Sony A7RV. We also use an Insta360 X3 for those "looking down on the vehicle shots". GoPro, of course, for some other shots. Drone shots are either a DJI Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic Mini 3 Pro, or a Mavic Air 2. The iPhone gets in there once in awhile too for both video and stills. We struggled with consistent audio for quite awhile. It takes a lot of attention to detail while on location. Have to be sure to use dead cats on the mics always. We use DJI wireless mics most of the time or a Sony ECM-B1M shotgun mic.

What timing, I've been working on a route from MN. Plan is to head out in 2025 for 2 months and hit the Arctic Ocean in the NWT and then again at Prudhoe Bay, then tour Alaska and BC.
