I'm just curious to know what you're using for cameras to shoot your video what resolution are you shooting in and uploading it
@adventurebeyond60
@adventurebeyond60 2 күн бұрын
We use a variety of cameras. All video is shot in 4K but frame rate and color depth depend on the platform. Primary cameras are the Sony A7SIII andl A7RV with a variety of lenses usually at 60fps. Next is the Insta360 X3 shot in 5.8K (recently upgraded to the X4 at 8K). However post production reduces the resolution to roughly 4K. We have a couple of GoPros at 4K and 3 drones Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic mini pro 3, and a Mavic Air 2. With most cameras we shoot in log mode and all video goes through manual color grading in post production with the final video being rendered in 4K HDR (HLG format). The HLG format seems to work best with KZfaq. With the Insta360 and GoPro their log format isn’t the greatest so we shoot in HDR and I still tweak the color grading. It’s labor intensive hence we are way behind in getting releasing content. But the quality of the content is very important to us. Thanks for asking!

@@adventurebeyond60 That explains a lot. I have been slowing migrating to 4K but its brutal on my computer hardware, I guess I need to bite the built and spend about 5K on a system that will handle it. I appreciate your detail and explanation

Hello from Wisconsin! We are heading to Big Bend National Park for a Bronco event in December. These are the two planned trail rides. No, we wont be towing the trailer on the trail. Staying at Chisos Basin Campground as a base camp. After that we will be heading to spend January and February in Arizona and southern California.

Yeah the Memorial Day is a bit early for touristy stuff unfortunately (depending on how much snow we get that year), but like you said you get to beat the crowds :) June is probably the best time as it's not as rainy and snow is gone from lower elevations.

You have done a wonderful job on documenting your travels. I love the planning your wife does, I do that for us as well but your wife takes it to a level that I aspire to do! We are going to take a trip to Alaska next August so your video's are very inspiring. If you do not mind sharing, what do you use to film your video's? I do want also to say you have the sound just perfect which many struggle with. A+ on everything!

Thanks so much! Yes, Debbie takes attention to detail to a level we all aspire to 😄. We primarily shoot video with a Sony A7SIII using a variety of lenses. For stills and some video we use a Sony A7RV. We also use an Insta360 X3 for those "looking down on the vehicle shots". GoPro, of course, for some other shots. Drone shots are either a DJI Mavic 3 Cine, Mavic Mini 3 Pro, or a Mavic Air 2. The iPhone gets in there once in awhile too for both video and stills. We struggled with consistent audio for quite awhile. It takes a lot of attention to detail while on location. Have to be sure to use dead cats on the mics always. We use DJI wireless mics most of the time or a Sony ECM-B1M shotgun mic.

What phone service do y’all have and did it work near black gap? I’m from Corpus but had to get AT&T when I started working in West Texas. I’m planning to make this trip with my 2019 Tundra SR5 it’s only 190 miles away from Odessa where I work.

We have AT&T but to the best of our recollection there was virtually no service in the Park. We carry StarLink with us which works great in desert areas. Having Big Bend in your backyard is really nice. We didn't have time to check out Big Bend State Park, but it looks awesome as well and I hope we get back there sometime.
