13:53 Whomever ordered this car when new definitely had the right stuff. I'm not certain if I'd care for leather seats during the Kansas Summers but a wagon with a 5 speed, a twin cam engine and AC? That's about what I would have bought if I was in the market for a Saturn back then. My 90 Civic Wagon was ordered to that spec, minus the twin-cam. Complete with wind up windows.

I think the gasoline Saturn could benefit from a stock ECM delete entirely. Now that you have DBW going, that would work really nicely with speeduino. Obviously not out of the box (speeduino doesn't support DBW due to safety reasony) but i think the D2B controller you've made could be connected to the speeduino to efficiently control the throttle position. There's many possibilities once you have total control. For example, when cruising, throttle could be set to wide open, timing retarded and lean burning as much as possible. Pretty sure modern engines work like this (also helps if you have an auto, so it's in the correct gear as well) and you can gain a decent fuel economy just by that. Another thing that comes to mind; does that car have EGR of any kind? That would also help quite a bit with economy (especially combined with DBW). Some ideas for future modifications, IF that project continues to be worked on :D

Two words: Mini Split. Cost effective, efficient and DIY friendly. Don't even have to do the whole shop. Slap up a partition where you spend most time. One trip to the ER probably would have paid for it. PS: Automotive engineers from the 80's spent untold hours and pallets of money to do what you're doing in an overheated garage in Greasy Creek, Kansas. Amazing!

I picked up a window unit for my shop at an auction, i got the unit for doing a delivery. Its not going to get that cool but it sure takes the humidity out of the air. I have a 26 x 20 foot garage, and this is like the littlest window unit there is, but it still does a decent job if you turn it on a couple of hours before working. Of course my garage door is insulated, as with the walls, and i got tech shield on the roof and over the rafter so . . . . . .

The later sucks at times, but at least it doesn’t rob any power of the 2.3 four cylinder that can hardly get out of it’s own way. Oh the car alarms of the olden days. For the first few years when they were a thing, they worked as intended; the alarm would go off, and people would come and see what was going on. Now, when a car alarm goes off, everyone within earshot rolls their eyes and asks "who's the asshole with the alarm?" And goes back to what they were doing beforehand, just slightly more annoyed than before.

How about a third throttle body linked to the workshop temperature sensor for the input and linked to a drinks dispenser for the output driving a jug (I think the Imperial crowd calls them pitchers, jugs might be something else entirely) right there on the bench in front of you? Early DBw Dodge Ram trucks had a throttle cable from the pedal to a APP sensor UNDER THE HOOD which sent the APP signal to the PCM and back out to the throttle body. As the crow flies they're about 2ft apart but looked like they had about 20ft of wire to connect the accelerator pedal position to throttle body. At that point I was scratching my head at Chrysler really hard, since you already ran the cable and you mounted the APP outside the cabin why not...I mean...I think I scratched a bald spot trying to figure that one out. As for a easily mount-able APP and pedal combo I present to you....GM GENUINE 15218992 found on several years of Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS. It's got a nice steel plate with 3 mounting studs. There's a few other GM parts that bolt on in a similar way but these pedals are fairly cheap and strangely readily available given the narrow year and model range.

Everyone always assumes that a rotary sensor is a potentiometer. There are such things as rotary encoders which won't wear down and start exhibiting different resistance values over time. The catch is that you need a few wires rather than just two, to convey the encoder's position as a multi-bit value. If you're already going to be using an MCU to take a potentiometer signal then you might as well just use an encoder instead because it will be almost just as easy - only the coding will be a bit more advanced - and greatly more reliable. The trick is using a grey encoder where instead of a typical multi-bit binary integer being output it only changes one bit at a time when it transitions from one value to another, whereas typical binary will have multiple bits flipping on/off when transitioning from one value to another, and rotary encoders are not 100% perfect so you might get noise values when transitioning between values. Grey encoders solve this problem, limiting the noise to just the transition between two values, which isn't a big deal in 99% of applications.

I had a 2000 SL1 when I was in college, had aftermarket cruise, manual everything except the transmission *sad face* 1L engine, it was a turd, but it was a reliable turd. Also the unibody design of the car, I lost control on the highway and ended up in a ditch, tumbled the car 6x, ripped the front and rear of the car completely off, engine broke off and tumbled in the engine bay, but inside was mint, extremely safe car
