Hello! I'm the Commodore of Fairhope Yacht Club and I am so glad we could provide you safe harbor and hospitality for a few days. Glad you got to visit but sorry about the circumstances. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures and how things are going. Please look us up again in your future travels.

Hi Phillip! Thank you so much for commenting! We had an incredible stay at your club. Everyone, was so nice and helpful. Your club is in such a beautiful setting and all the members we met were so kind to us. What a great place! We hope to be back to visit someday. One of our favorite stops(other than the accident) so far on the Loop! Best to you all!

Hey guys just want to say y’all did a great with this situation. Remember this about tugs they put out a prop blast down to about 40 feet and kick stuff off the bottom, so try not to pass on the outside of a turn when passing if you can. Good luck we really enjoy your videos.

Thank you so much! I am so glad you said this. We also noticed making the video, it appears to be right where a huge logging facility is operating....Lesson learned for sure! Thank you :)

Not a fun day, but I have no doubt you will persevere. Some boat humor... When I was 18 and cruising on my Dad's 33' Chris Craft cabin cruiser on Peoria Lake in Illinois, Dad told me to throw out the anchor which I did. A short time later while Dad was sitting in his chair and was enjoying a cold drink he noticed we were drifting and hollered "did you tie up the anchor?" I said "No". He said "Why the h*** not?" I said "You didn't tell me too." We recovered the anchor thankfully and I guess we will call that my first boating lesson.

You would be surprised how often not tying the anchor on happens. I heard of one person throwing the anchor over without tying the chain to the anchor.

GREAT STORY! Thank you for sharing. I will share a good one....years ago on our 24' Regal, we had just put the boat back in the water after repairing an engine that sucked someone's trash in to the intake, on our shake down cruise we tangled in a rope. I climbed in to the frigid Lake Michigan waters cursing people who liter in the lake! Only to trace the rope up under the boat to my own bow! hahaha! The anchor clip had broken and we had spilled out all our rode. Embarrassing! Thanks for the great comment!

OMG….. every boaters biggest fears! First of all, we are happy you made it safely! Second, I know that there is no way either of us would have been able to record any footage while under stress like you were! We would have been looking, listening and feeling the boats every move and motion. Third…. You had both of us in tears with the radio call when entering Mobile Bay! The response from the other vessels was amazing and made us feel safe and protected. There has never been a KZfaq video that has hit our emotion like you just did. We look forward to following your adventures and will keep our fingers crossed for a safe journey for the rest of your trip.

Thank you Dave. You are correct, you almost have to expect something....in fact several boats traveling down the rivers bumped something, with different degrees of damage. Most river impacts result in retuning a prop, usually done by a diver. Ours unfortunately was a little more serious. Thank you for the nice comment and for following along!

Looks like a fairly newer boat yet there still aren’t any systems to prevent or attenuate these occurrences. I saw a 50’ yacht coming into a Lake Huron port. The owner had given the pilot the day off. The owner takes the buoy on the wrong side and $20,000 bronze prop looks like a pretzel. I forget the bottom line on the adventure , diver, remove prop, take to Bay City (about 80 miles away), bring back, call diver, install prop, inspect shaft, insurance calls owner and tells him he’s not allowed to pilot the boat until he gets a CG certification. Big deal in a town of 200 people in late summer.

@@cruisingandromeda Things go like that sometimes. One thing goes wrong and all kinds of seemingly unrelated things also fail at the same time! A case of "when it rains, it pours!" I hope that your damage was not severe. I had a 70 foot long river going houseboat that we ran on the Ohio River out of Cincinnati. I was always worried that something would damage the running gear with all the crap that floats down a river.

That is how it was! Just when you think you "got it" something always pops up! lol Thank you for watching and sharing! We were in awe of the houseboats we saw! Being from Michigan, I had never seen them. What a fun way to travel! :)

We know what you went through. Same thing for us a few years ago with a Grand Haven dredging operation. No pun intended, but worst sinking feeling we have ever had on a boat. But following your Facebook, sounds like all is good and exciting times continue. You are good people with a very nice boat. We wish you both the best boating has to offer on the Loop. ♥️⚓️🚤

Thank you David! You are correct...it is a gut punch...I would think most boaters have had some kind of event and experienced that "sinking feeling". I hope your repairs went well. Thanks for sharing and thank you for watching!
