JLD joins us to discuss the Season Five finale "Inauguration". The episode gets a bit eggy, but we still don't know what that means.

Julia is so excellent for being on the show so many times. It is beautiful to see she cares enough about Tim and Matt to show so much support.

Just so very thankful for Veep...having rewatched it three times...it is the glue to sanity to buffer against the insanity that is!

The whole pod is great but I really love how you guys always make an effort to acknowledge the people who rocked small guest roles.

Just finished rewatching the series again last night. Its really blowing my mind how many new jokes I catch each time I watch the show. My goal is to notice every joke before I've rewatched for the 40th time. "Brilliant" doesn't do the writers justice. Such a great freaking show, maybe one show a decade is this good.

Julia is such a superstar. I looooove getting the inner workings of Selina Meyer from the woman that knows her best. How juicy is this episode ? Thank you guys for being such fans!

Two things: I love when Julia comes on and tells the boys how to run a podcast And I love when Matt fangirls over the show as much I do like bro

You guys should talk about how most of the cast of Veep has done guest appearances on 30Rock and how that came to be. Julia has been on it, so has Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, Reid Scott, and Tony Hale.

Another banger! It's always so great to see and hear from Julia, and I love how seriously she immediately took the beating-up-members-of-congress question. 🤣🖤 I second (or fourth I guess) the suggestion to bring on costume designers for sure: I always love hearing about the work that goes into any kind of visual design but I'm especially into clothing, and it definitely annoys me how often more modern costuming is overlooked!

Selina played a narcissist so incredibly perfectly, there is no better portrayal ever imo. It's impecable.

This podcast is the continuation of generosity the cast have always shown to their fans. I’ve always admired them for that. We’re really lucky to have all the added and extra footage that exists - rehearsals, table reads, outtakes and so on. It’s shows you the love these actors have for their work, the story and the fans. Veep has meant so much to me over the years - the comedy is like nothing I’ve ever seen, or the connection everyone seemed to have with each other - it made for such exciting television and the commitment to retelling these stories is really valued. My only disappointment was the 6th and 7th seasons I think there were some very bold choices made which upset the speed at which we were prepared to move with the story and the characters, Selena most certainly. The escalation of the choices the characters were making coupled with what felt like an overnight willingness to reduce some of the characters - turning them almost into caricatures l, decision’s which did feel too influenced by the trump era from at that time, a very angry Hollywood left. I always felt the show could rise above the noise of reality and push on without attempting to politicise - something the show had prided itself on to this point. The only show that could afford to have such highly critical fan thinking?

Also in the documentary episode Selena says something like “please God get Jonah to this vote and then give him any kind of cancer, I don’t care what” and then he later gets testicular cancer. I didn’t catch that until I rewatched lol so dark 😂

Brilliant ep as always. I think I might be able to enlighten you on the ‘eggy’ meaning. There’s a British saying: “Don’t over-egg the pudding” which means don’t ‘over-do’ something… Like going overboard on descriptives, or when someone drags out a joke past the point of being funny. So an episode that was an ‘over-egged pudding’ might be described as ‘eggy’. I’m in Australia and don’t think we have the ‘over-egged pudding’ saying here. I lived in the UK for 15 years and am pretty sure I’ve only ever heard it there. Was it the Brit writers who used the word ‘eggy’? Do you have that saying in the USA? Thanks guys!! Loved the episode as usual. ❤

I had never heard it until this conversation, but this description makes perfect sense.

@@secondincommandATC well, there you go!!! I’d love a Brit to confirm it!!
@vicgosden80886 ай бұрын
Brit here, can confirm we do use "over-egged". We also say "egging on", which means "to irritate" - basically the same definition as was mentioned in the podcast 👍
@StephanieBeitzel6 ай бұрын
@@vicgosden8088 in Oz we definitely say “egging on”. For us, this means to positively encourage, or, more often, to encourage someone to do something that’s perhaps a bit on the mischievous side! EG: in a school playground, one kid in a group might get in trouble for throwing a water balloon at a teacher. The kid’s usual defence would be “but they all egged me on”! (Purely fictitious story. Any similarity to KZfaq commenters past or present is purely coincidental. 🤭)

Guys, i don't know when you filmed this, and JLD is a brilliant actress, but her amazement that you had Hugh on some weeks ago at 6:43 seemed genuine. For the love of Shaved Sasquatch, if there is any chance Julia hasn't seen the brilliant laudation that Hugh had for Julia during that episode that you also partially turned into a short, send it to her! It's one of the most genuine moments of pure admiration from actor to actor i have ever seen.

After the ‘nice shoes’ comment and her ‘come on, man’ retort, she gets the last ‘word’ by sauntering away, moving her hips, knowing full well he still is a man, after all, and wants her.

This constant idea that Richard is as bad as his job as Mike is a WILD stretch. Season 6 Richard is a literal genius.

I liked the facial expression and the purse dropping choice. During my rewatch(es) it always reminds me of the subtly incensed/disgusted look Mrs. Obama had during the Trump inauguration. I wish she had thought to drop her purse...it would have been awesome 😊

I would watch a tv show where Julia goes shopping for stuff for her house. Legit. My mum would. So would every gay guy i know.
