The Bonafide P127 comes to life when you grab a paddle! I'm very impressed with how responsive it is. I truly most people who fish the Texas Gulf Coast Marshes would enjoy it.

Great video. By the way in the video you mentioned several times "I don't know why you'd want to go with paddle". Simple. Like you just launch out or just about to return to shore, and the water is very shallow close to shore (say on water within a few hundred feet from shore ),and water is simply not deep enough to deploy/drop down your pedal drive

Great stuff as always sir. The wind and the changing season has made it tough to figure out what the fish want. 3 times on the yak this week, all with similar weather and tides, they wanted 3 different things.

Mark it's really easy to paddle in yak and it tracks very easy. Having the padel drive only frees up your hands. But you have to mess with the rudder controls. I have two yaks and only use paddles for fishing and duck hunting. I current drift me to spots, as that's where most my fish are....follow the current as fish do... still you offer very much information and explanation to new users... One thing I love about my Wife’s SS127 is after installing the Rudder. Made her yak paddle so much better. Looking like the P127 is a decent yak. Minus the rudder frustration. The draft and ease of tracking while paddling is a big plus. From what I’m seeing on your video.

so i have a Slayer Max and i rock the boonedox landing gear system. very similar to what you are using. I changed out the floating tires with TRAILBLAZER brand plastic tires because they are light weight, do not float and have a wider tread making it sink less in mud. I live in Sarasota and a few places i like to deploy my kayak only have bulk heads. I have a set of 8' bi-folding ramps I used to load 4 wheelers with. I can launch and retrieve from a 3.5' height bulkhead with no problem by myself. This should be a solution or atleast a direction. Adapt and overcome devil. FLY

Mark, I was fishing there Tuesday afternoon and not one bite. Tons of bait swirling but not even a small flounder. Thanks for the videos. Hope to meet up with you on the water one day.

On my rig the wheels are the same concept but has a paracord/bungee where I jus pull rotate n it goes right back n the slot. I’m usually on my rig then rotate it out of water.

Great review of the paddle. I so enjoy all that you say! Seeing your videos is like being sitting right behind you in the kayak! Thanks again, Mark!! I have the very same propel as you have, for my Watercraft Titan 13.5, but still rigging my vessel and haven't had it in the water as yet. Do you like the Propel unit?

I haven't had pleasure of trying bonafide or old town or any other pedal drive yaks besides Hobies. I'm not brand loyal but I do love my hobbie. I'm on my second PA12 in past 7 yrs. It definitely doesn't track that well but I have taken them through small rivers & large creeks where I had my pedal drive pulled out most of trips. I didn't have any problems hand paddling. Obviously prefer the pedal drive of course. That cart set up looks like somewhat of a pain to unload. U unless u have deep enough water like u said, which isn't the case alot of places. Ive used my heavy duty hobie cart for yrs now. I did the no tilt bungee mod where just lift the back & cart self loads. It works flawless every time. I can launch & load in deep, shallow or land easily. That looks like an awesome yak though, would b cool to try some of other pedal drives out eventually

They don’t make their “Flex Wings” for that model? I have them on my SS127 instead of a rudder. Flush with the bottom and keeps it tracking straight as an arrow. Call Bonafide and talk to them about your options. Great content as always!!

Just put your wheels up before putting it in the water from the bank. Tilt it towards one side or the other to remove the wheels, then just slide it down in the water no problem.

Beautiful colors on that 1st Trout Mark. So what is your yak of choice at this point. I've watched you with OldTown 120 Auto, the little or not so little skiff you had. What do you consider your main ride these days? Thanks Mark.

If you have a dock you need to put a leash on your kayak and walk it out while on the dock a little bit then get in and take the wheels off lol …..if you don’t have a dock ….rear end first then get in a pull them out while in the kayak on the start for both scenarios…the same when you come in if there is a dock get out on the dock and put your wheels down before exiting your kayak …if there is no ramp and it’s sketchy do not use the wheels…get it as close as you can then drag the kayak the rest of the way and put it in the water
@dudefish1635

Just use the wheels to get to the waters edge. Then grab the side handle and lift and pull the wheel out and let the kayak roll on its side. Then do the same on the other side. Slide it in the water and go.

I used to fish only in the ocean. Then I started fishing with my nephew who is scared to death of the ocean (he is only 14 so leave him be) so I started freshwater fishing also. My thoughts on kayak fishing in the ocean and freshwater are as follows... For freshwater you want a stable boat, light in weight, simple, and easy to maneuver in skinny water and shallow water and in a portage. My freshwater kayak is a Moken 12.5 V2. I wish it was lighter but the wheel in the keel and the sonar pod make me very happy. For the ocean there are only 2 kayaks I will use. The Trident 15 and the Viking ProFish Reload are really the only 2 to pick from. You want 15 feet in length and nothing wider then 29 inches, yet it must be stable as well as unstable, and you need to be able to stand up. Never take a stable freshwater boat in the ocean. You will get wrecked. Long and skinny is the way to go. My ocean going beast is a Viking Reload. AWESOME KAYAK. In the end a freshwater boat needs to be light, simple, easy, and convenient to handle, especially with kids and women and yourself when you get tired.... In the ocean you must be light, skinny, long, unstable, and rugged. The Viking weighs only 65 pounds and can take 10 foot ocean swells all day long. It is also a strange combination of stable and unstable. I can stand and cast in it no problem. I can also hold it steady in turbulent rough ocean water (unstable boats do this) and not get wrecked. Mr. Edward Choi, if you want to go fishing and try either 1 of my kayaks let me know as I own the 2 of them and would love to take you fishing in Central/Southern California. I live in Ventura County close to Los Angeles CA. No idea where you live but if you want to trek here and try both my boats out that's really cool with me.
