The Saab JAS-39 Gripen is a light single-engine multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab. The Gripen has a delta wing and canard configuration with relaxed stability design and fly-by-wire flight controls.
It is powered by the Volvo RM12, and has a top speed of Mach 2. Later aircraft are modified for NATO interoperability standards and to undertake in-flight refuelling.

Actually leading role of manufacture is to UK. Most of the parts are produced by them!

Just an engine by General Electric, license produced by Volvo. The newest Gripen even uses a GE engine, manufactured in the US. Ejection seats from the UK, the cannon from Germany, most missiles are license produced or from the US and european countries. American and israeli targeting and surveillance pods.

@@beastman1927 Thinking English is not your native tongue and something is getting lost in translation. Your English is definitely better than my French, or whatever language is your native tongue. Americans aren't exactly known for speaking multiple languages. The Rafael is a good airplane, sexy looking as all get out, just something about the Gripen that I like. Would like to fly it if I had the chance. I would take the F16 over any of them though.

Uçakların kıyaslanmasından ziyade kendi imkanları ile bugünün şartlarını da göz önünde bulundurursak gördüğüm hissettiğim şey şu. İsveç in gururu ve azmi. Saab titiz ve gururlu bir şirkettir. Uluslararası bütün baskı ve gizli ambargoya rağmen duruşunu değiştirmemiş onurlu ve dik başlı kalmayı tercih etmiştir.. Not:Saab ı Türkiye almayı düşünmüştü (otomobil) içeride kıyamet koptu karalamalar başladı.

@@TheLittleMaestro2911 gripen is extremely cheap to operate and to maintain, and it can take off easily from an urban road. Swedish air force hide them in urban garages to dodge any Russian attack on air bases

Here in Greece the officers who are in charge of evaluate the 4th generation aircraft they were interested about Grippen aswell as the eurofighter, but their conclution about Grippen was that it has poor efficiency in speed it only had one engine and in roof ceiling and also had medium results against warships. On the other hand Eurofighter was very expensive to operate and it was great about air to air combat and thats it. So they recommended Rafale F3 as the optimum solution.
