Every song on the Last Stand tells a tale of bravery and the ideal of never surrender. Regardless of who was on the right side, you have to admire the tenacity of the warriors involved. And as always, awesome lyrics and musicianship from Sabaton. I worked with a gentleman who was a Major in the Soviet Army and was stationed in Afghanistan. His stories of the fighting there are intense with neither side showing any mercy for their enemies. Great reaction, keep rocking.

Interesting, any idea which part he was in? I wonder how his experience compares to more recently. I was in Iraq, but knew many guys who went to Afghanistan and had similar, albeit not as extreme, cases like this where on a hill overlooking a road or pass and coming under attack.

@@metalzonereactions From what I remember, he was originally stationed in Kabul but when the fighting got worse and Russian casualties mounted, he was sent to Baghlan province. He was in a rapid reaction battalion, and said he was actually spirited out of Afghanistan by friends when he disobeyed orders to execute all the males in a village. His brother, who was a government minister in the energy sector, arranged to get him to the US. I met my wife, who was friends with his batman's (yes, the Russian officers had them) wife when we went to Ukraine to buy trucks for a joint venture with LukOil (his brother was a VP there at the time).

@@metalzonereactions Some of his tales were disturbing to say the least. Neither side wanted to play nice. I met his brother when we shipped the first wireline unit to Siberia. He told me how he traveled to New York with a suitcase full of 100 dollar bills to buy an apartment for their mother. Must be nice to have connections. Oh, and he casually dropped that he was close friends with Putin. This was in 1997.

I misspoke, this is from the 2016 Sabaton album The Last Stand, not Stand Your Ground as I called it - brain fart 🤣😆

@@metalzonereactions just an FYI, the lyric videos from the last stand are not very good. They are all the same with the same background so they can kind of get boring.

@@andrewludwig9251 thanks! I think this is the first one from Last Stand that I have seen the lyric video. The other songs off this album I believe I have seen the live performances of. Any recommendations for others off this album? My goal is to get to them all (eventually 😅🤣)
